CTMike said:Just finished this board from some strips I had made previously. 15 3/4 x 13 7/8 x 1 1/2” - maple, walnut, cherry, and purpleheart.Second photo is after the first coat of food grade mineral oil, many more coats to follow.Asking $200 due to the amount of walnut and purpleheart. A juice groove can be added for $25.

Very nice Nola. I ran a simulation of that with my CAD software, and it just lost too much detail.Which laser is that?MMBGE / Large BGE / XL BGE (Craigslist Find) / SF30x80 cabinet trailer - "Ol' Mortimer" / Outdoor kitchen in progress.

Can that do tattoos?
-
This is the laser:It's a 40 watt dual diode laser, 10cm/s max travel 460x810mm working area machine. It will cut 8mm plywood (with air assist) single pass.It will do tattoos, but you will not like the results.Nice thing about this is besides it's easy to use, fast, powerful and cheap, is that it's very light and you can hang it on the wall, out of the way, when you're not using it.I'm going to build a cabinet for it with some air filtration. The amount of smoke and smell these create is annoying.

I'm going to add some fill to this particular graphic and try to get more contrast out of it. That took about 35 minutes to burn.

FYI - that was a vector burn. A raster burn is very slow but you can take any photo and line by line burn it with grey scale. Raster image printing is very challenging, I'm working on understanding the various parameters to try to optimize the image transfer. Will take some time.

I know I can assign certain colors to laser intensities/speed rates. I can probably do a vector hatch pattern that way.

I'm really pumped up with this laser tool. Lightburn software is pretty intuitive.

Beautiful board, Mike.I'm in the camp where normal wear and tear adds to the character. Tools are meant to be used. People actually pay extra for jeans that are half worn out, or guitars like this:
