Green Chili Cheeseburgers

Discussion on the Spice thread got me inspired to do my own Green Chili Cheeseburgers. Kroger had some Hatch chilies in. Got them roasted up on the Egg and chopped up.

Grilled up some burgers and topped them with the chilies and some pepper.

Toasted up some Dave’s Killer Bread buns and assembled with mayo, tomatoes and lettuce. Tots curtesy off the wife. If they aren’t slightly burnt, they aren’t done. Fry sauce with some Cajun seasoning. Great meal.

Looking great!  My lunch today too, I used provolone (the mexican cheese I normally use was unavailable) and no other condiments; beans for the side.

Talk about a burger enhancement...Hatch chilies this time of year in any fashion for the win.  Great cook right there.

Back in 2010 the Travel Channel television show Food Wars episode "Pueblo -- The Slopper" came to mind

Yes sir, I have roasted Hatch several times this season for fajitas, street tacos,
etc.   wish the season was longer but when it hits it’s on!

I’ll judge it tomorrow John. We are swinging through Phoenix just for Whataburger (MIL is Texan and it makes her happy) on the way back from Sedona.

Best green chili burgers are in New Mexico, The Burger Stand at Burro Alleyin Santa Fe and Taos.  But, Whataburger is the best second.

I remember having a green chile cheeseburger or two at Whataburger in Albuturkey, but that was too many brain cells ago to remember how good they were (I do remember the ones that sucked, but Whataburger is not on that list).

The best one that I’ve had was at a local chain burger restaurant in ABQ. Can’t remember the name of it off the top of head, but it was good.
