Thanks for the detailed response! I have both Solid works and Mastercam at work.
I am now leaning towards the mk4s. Looks like I can upgrade it down the road to the core 1 if I find im using it lots and want/need to get into fancier filaments. I was quite suprised to see this upgrade was even an option seeing how different the two printers are. I would likely order the kit, so I can see how it works and also save a few hundred bucks over pre-assembled.
Kit assembly is 8-12 hours.  Although it is possible to upgrade from MK4s to Core One, I'm not sure that this is something I would be doing.  The trouble of disassembling the Mk4s and then assembling a Core One is just too much IMHO.  The main value of going with a kit is understanding how the machine works and I enjoy this type of thing, it is a mechanical puzzle!  You also know that assembly was done right because you did it yourself.  Cost is an incentive but assembly is not for everyone, you need patience and you NEED to read the manual.

Realistically, you'd need a 3D scanner as well.

.....I guess I'm buying the same trash service from waste management but for 70 percent more....

Last bill in the 700 range for the month. New bill 1200 range....

I thought they caught me with an overfilled bin a couple times but no, a note on the invoice indicates this is my new price!

I signed up in the $500 range and over the past couple months it is increased to $700 range but this is ridiculous.

I tried contacting customer service and they transferred me to another department and it rang and rang and rang and nobody ever answered. I will try again tomorrow.

As a business owner, I’m here to tell you you’re probably screwed for 12 months or longer. Your contract probably auto renewed. Now you have to submit (in writing) notice of cancellation 90 days prior to this contract expiring. It’s been my experience that WM is atrociously expensive. We get 2 8 yard containers dumped 5x a week and I don’t pay $900 a month

Yes. I'm on my 3rd one. They all have contracts. I'll do some shopping again.

I have 2 8 yard containers at 3x/week.  I don't think I've been on this contract for even a year yet and I know it is a two-year contract.

Surely that contract doesn’t have an open mid term escalation clause.

Apparently they are not working well unless you are willing to pay +10k$ 🤷‍♂️

    Would be nice though

I got my first printer to make enclosures for electronic projects:

It is useful for all sort of things.  Printed/designed a cable grommet/strain relief to let a HomePod USB cable through the side of a cabinet:

    Mounting bracket for an antenna:

    Fun stuff:
Cryptex to gift money to my nephew for Christmas, the digits of the combination code were answers to riddles.

    Chocolate holder

    Locking Gift Box:

It is a pretty cool hobby

Maybe you all could print some “toys” for @kl8ton to send to WM and he could tell them he prefers they at least use those on him.

Debating between a Prusa mk4s or a bambu p2s 3D printer. Does anyone have either?
It depends on what you are planning to print.  I am partial to Prusa.  However, The Bambu p2s at the current price and features is hard to beat.

I just purchased a Prusa Core One.
I recently purchased a P2S w/ AMS as my first 3D printer. Very happy with it.

The P2S value for money is pretty hard to beat.  Lots of changes coming in the next few years.  I don’t have a filament changer system yet, I am waiting for the INDX toolhead changer to be available later this year.  How do you like the AMS?

It works very well, I can add a second one without using a hub and have a total of 9 different colors available (one external spool).

This I like, brackets. I am always mounting something  to something and usually end up using steel, when plastic would be sufficient and much less of a hassle. No welding, cutting, drilling,.etc.
Just this week I was looking at a hardware cabinet. Basically a tool box/chest with dividers. Cost was $2k for a 36" 7 drawer. I can get a normal tool box for $500 and 3d print all the organizers. This job alone would pay for the printer. At least that's what I keep telling myself so I go buy one.

Finally decided to upgrade from a Food Saver - VP230 shows up Tuesday. Will be much easier to seal bags of brisket chili for freezing, chicken stock, etc.

Has anyone here installed permanent exterior lights on your home?  I'm looking at the Govee Pro lights,

    Northern Colorado Egghead since 2012.

    XL BGE and a KBQ.

    Congrats, you'll love it!

Perhaps you can FedEx-proof the butter keepers by sealing them with styrofoam peanuts, stuff the space between inner and outer pieces as well. Experiment with a cheap mug, low pressure should be sufficient to hold things together. DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK 😂
