I'm sure that's a part of it.   The density of buildings in my hood is high.  We just had our 300th anniversary a few years back.

Whilst we might quibble over whether 300 years is merely established rather than old,  we can agree that @JohnInCarolina would be preoccupied with the state of neighbourhood roofs.  That image will be right in his wheelhouse.

I went shopping today,  it happens very rarely - and here's what I saw.

Astonishing parking. The car to the left is parked, locked and unattended.  I saw it happen.  And that's my Saab to the right, so I wasn't too disappointed.

Then I went to see a nice man who made all the wheels point the same way.

And then I discovered this in Waitrose, Beaconsfield.

I wanted it all and I wanted it all immediately.    But I left empty handed (this time).

Some of that actually looks properly aged, good for a supermarket.

Indeed, that is astonishing!  You almost wonder if the owner of that car isn’t legally blind! I suppose in Britain this might also signal that he’s just a dentist, no?

And there I was thinking you would remark upon the condition of my car's roof.
So at least you have more than one trick.

Well, if you recall, what I asked at the time is whether or not in Britain it was as difficult to find a good roofer as it was a good dentist.  So it's really just one trick, adapted to different purposes.

But it seems I have left a mark.

It does lift my spirits somehow that every time you gaze upon your roof from now on, you'll invariably think of that ahole in the US who disparaged it.  Think of this as revenge for allowing Piers Morgan to exist.  In a fateful twist, did you know he's actually the son of ... a dentist?

    Piers Morgan?  Shots definitely fired.
We were duped.   The plan was for him to be taken to your hearts or consumed by a cult and in either case not return.

It is good to know that disdain for Piers is some kind of universal constant.

I'm quite certain he's fortunate he wasn't born in the 1400's, as surely he would have been drawn and quartered by now for general assholery.

Had there not be international law and rules of citizenship, he'd likely be a man without a country floating towards France.

Just because you didn't intern all the people that had been on, what's now, the British Isles forever (theoretically back 6000 years max) at one seminal point in time into reservations or whatever and you DIDN'T reset the clock by renaming everything, like we did, it doesn't mean it's any older.

Hell, we (or at least the Canadians) have the Nuvvuagittuq greenstone which is like, 4Billion years old, I mean, 6000 years plus 7 days...technically we're older.

JIC is an anti-dentite and has a preternatural high bar for roofing material. In fact, I recall he strongly disliked Margaret Thatcher.

Forgive my rambling, pulled an all-nighter procrastinating on some development work for the salt mine and I'm loopy as hell.

All I do know for sure is that history is highly situational to the person talking about it.
The fact GB was effectively taken over by the Dutch in the 17th Century is rarely mentioned here. But ‘King Billy’ is revered by many.

I think I have sucked the fun out of the room with that comment?
Which reminds me; that I have two episodes of What we do in the shadows left to watch. Huzzah.

Glad you said it, and not me.  Maybe he will listen to his own country-men.  Daniel Craig is the best Bond.

    Connery, Craig, Moore, Brosnan.

Brosnan was in the style of Moore.  A little to wink wink for my taste.
    Love you bro!
