I asked her how they got Vegan Leather, and she told me it came from Vegan Cows.  She was dead serious and was offended by my laughing.  I asked her how that was different from a regular cow.

Lots of Tesla fanboys out there. They're also much more advanced when it comes to battery technology

Is the question which will sell more in a particular year or over the life?  I’m not sure Rivian will be around in 5–10 years.

Which one is actually being sold and which one is 3 years behind its initial promised for sale date?

Same could be said of Tesla. Once the major car makers fully enter the EV vehicle market Tesla may well be in more serious trouble than they already are.

I think they have some time. Especially when it comes to trucks and using them as they are intended to be used.

Any electric truck is going to be limited to half to a third of its range towing, which is dismal.  Gas trucks loose a lot of range too but they have at least twice the range and places to fill up quick.  Infrastructure will take a while to catch up, in the interim, don’t plan on buying an electric vehicle if you plan to do long tow trips like RV life stuff.

Tesla has more and more competition, and quality control issues that persist. But I was actually referring to that particular model - the CyberTruck.

Judgment comes from experience.  Experience comes from poor judgement.

We have this bizarre view of wealth in this country.  People just take it for granted that very wealthy people got there based on superior knowledge, ability, and work ethic.  How dare anyone question them?

I mean… on point with the subject of this thread, after Musk sold his first company, he bought a $1M McLaren F1.  You know what happened to that car?  Musk crashed it - uninsured.

Here’s what he said after the crash:

“You know, I had read all these stories about people who made money and bought sports cars and crashed them. But I knew it would never happen to me, so I didn’t get any insurance.”

Obviously, this man is a genius who should never be questioned.

The stock market is so manipulated now a days. Look at Tesla’s EBITDA compared to GM and Ford and tell me if that makes sense.

These things come down to fundamentals.

When it comes to making EVs, what “secret sauce” do you think Tesla has that other car companies lack?   I would argue that it’s nothing that can’t be caught technology-wise, and the big auto makers have a lot of advantages that Tesla does not.

  • I could get into the weeds about charging standards. But I will leave it that Tesla got a commanding lead. Now that other manufacturers are starting to catch up they are trying to cement their lead . However Joe wouldn’t spit on Elon if he was on fire.
