fishlessman said:if you enjoyed the virus before, seems theres a real chance to get it again with the brazil variant. guess time will tell if the vaccine takes this one out
https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/the-most-worrying-mutations-in-five-emerging-coronavirus-variants/
A quote from the article seems relevant:
"Thus far, vaccines made by Moderna and Pfizer seem to work against the new variants, although Moderna has begun developing a booster shot specific to new variants. Because these two vaccines are more than 90 percent effective, a slight drop in effectiveness would still make them worth using, experts say."Ubi panis, ibi patria.

Today when I was coming out of a gas station someone asked me if I was from Mississippi and what I thought about the governor removing the statewide mask mandate. I said “He’s a frigging idiot and I didn’t vote for him.” We were both wearing masks and so was everybody in the building. Businesses and people around here are still wearing our masks.About the birth rate, responsible people don’t create children that they can’t feed, cloth, and educate. That will change with the economy.
-
Gotta admit that for all the restrictions and limitations we have put up with over the last year, this accelerated easing of mandates and limits seems like we are running a marathon and just quit at the 26 mile marker. I don't get the perceived urgency. FWIW-Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

Yes at the rate that vaccine supplies are increasing just another six weeks could see herd immunity if you factor in all of the people who have had Covid. This is like busting out of Sing Sing 2 months before your scheduled to be paroled. Luckily, as I said, pretty much all towns and businesses are ignoring the Crazy Clown in the capitol.

Some good news from the CDC:
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/08/health/covid-vaccine-cdc-guidelines.html?referringSource=articleShare
If you don't want to click the link, I think the most important point is that they're saying vaccinated grandparents should feel free to meet inside with their children and grandchildren, even if the latter are not vaccinated, so long as nobody is from an at-risk group."I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike -

Vaccine is now arriving faster than people are taking it. Judging by the number of first shots available on our state’s website. That is why our governor lower the age down to 50 and threw in all teachers and first responders plus a long list of comorbidities. The local casinos are paying their workers $150 for each shot plus paid time off to take the shot and deal with side effects. One even set up a vaccination line at work.

I'll just leave this here-
"Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and chief medical advisor to Biden, described a recent poll indicating that 47% of Trump voters would not get the vaccine as “disturbing.”The poll conducted in March revealed worrying proportions of Trump supporters who did not intend to be vaccinated, particularly compared with the 10% of Biden voters who expressed they would not receive a vaccine. Connor Perrett reports for Business Insider."Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. -
In a week Mississippi is supposed to lower eligibility for vaccination to 18 years old. They are taking the approach to maximize the number vaccinated in face of the new variants. Rather than trying to lead the mules to water.

Correction to my previous post: change next week to tomorrow.

dads 78, heading towards boston for his first shot now, wonder if that pushes me out to after the july 4th bbq

My second Moderna appointment for tomorrow was just canceled due to projected severe weather. They said that they would reschedule me.
Btw there is a correction to my previous post. 16 and 17 year olds are eligible if the have Pfizer where they want to go, the website said to call and verify it's availability.
