Whiskey collection
Starting a small inexpensive whiskey collection. Can’t purchase the Pappy without the wife killing me. What do you guys have? Comments

Nice start. My advice is to crack those seals and start enjoying them rather than to merely start a collection.

Here’s some of mine. I blame the boredom which has risen out of the lockdowns for my “problem”. NOTE: not one bottle that is not open and available for drinking.

fridges - with you, they could be either, though the “54” leads me to believe they’re wine fridges at 54F and not cigar fridges at either 54F (too cold!) or 54 -
I couldn’t agree more, my Dad went to his grave leaving behind a case of Johnny Walker blue label...RRP said:Nice start. My advice is to crack those seals and start enjoying them rather than to merely start a collection.

Yeah, wine. I do have a cigar one too but it’s upstairs in the back room adjacent to the patio AKA “smoking lounge” getting a bit chilly outside for cigars.GrateEggspectations said:

I’m a four roses fan. I’ve heard you either are or you hate it. FR single barrel is my favorite but many prefer the small batch or SB select like you have. I also feel the Makers gets a bad rap because it’s so recognizable and isn’t new or hip. It’s a solid pour IMO. Most importantly, enjoy!Wolfe said:

Not much as far as 'Collection' goes, but I usually keep a Hot and a Sweet versions on hand.
Honey Spiced is great in BBQ sauce, Beans etc.

My collection is very small, as in rarely more than a few bottles. I tend to buy and drink, and I just realized I left a few bottles at a party last week!🤦♂️

If you’re only going to have two bottles, you could do a heckofa lot worse than those right there. Two of my favorites.Ozzie_Isaac said:My collection is very small, as in rarely more than a few bottles. I tend to buy and drink, and I just realized I left a few bottles at a party last week!🤦♂️

I would like to visit Arizona again. I was last there in 1990. I was at Springerville Generating Station on Unit 2 construction.Ozzie_Isaac said:

Makers is a great daily IMO also. The makers 46 and cask strength are some of my favorites as well. Elijah Craig small batch has been one of my go tos lately.pgprescott said:

EC small batch is one if not the best pour for the money in the bourbon world IMO. I always have a few bottles at the ready. Available everywhere is a huge plus. Enjoy.U_tarded said:

I’m a scotch guy at heart but thoroughly enjoy the Kentucky brown water as well. All the newcomers to the whiskey revival are bourbon and rye drinkers so I have gotten a bit carried away as a result. We like to entertain.

That was about the time they were building the Dome in Springerville/Eager area. Did you happen to see that being built too? North Eastern AZ is one of my favorite parts of this most great state.SGH said:

I must ne a contrarian, I am drifting towards Bourbon at the moment. One drink I miss is Templeton Rye. Used to get it for cheap from IFS, but I have not found it in AZ at all.pgprescott said:I’m a scotch guy at heart but thoroughly enjoy the Kentucky brown water as well. It was still under construction when I was there. I saw it from the road but that is as close as I got.Ozzie_Isaac said:That was about the time they were building the Dome in Springerville/Eager area. Did you happen to see that being built too? Nope you are with the “in” crowd. Bourbon is king right now in the US anyway. I use Templeton in old fashioneds from time to time. They got in big trouble with the whiskey snobs when it was discovered that they source their whiskey. Label has a big story about their roots giving the impression that they are distillers. Drink what you like and most importantly, enjoy!Ozzie_Isaac said:

No collection here. When I can get my hands on Eagle Rare, Blanton's or EH Taylor I will buy several. Every one gets cycled based on my guesstimated restock availability.
I do have a unicorn (opened and consumed on infrequent occasions) Parker's Heritage Edition 13; 8 yr Rye. That acquisition falls straight into the "better to be lucky than good" category. Enjoy whatever you pour!Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. Usual Suspects. The fall usually calls for some Old Forester 1910 or Woodford Double Oaked."Brought to you by bourbon, bacon, and a series of questionable life decisions."

@lousubcap that’s usually my mantra. My wife has been busting my balls recently cause my office is next door do a store in Nashville that does a fantastic job of stocking some usually hard to find bottles.Unfortunately I’ve got some Co-workers and friends who are big fans of Eh Taylor, the Weller collections, and Eagle Rare so it doesn’t last long around here.
