Chicken Wings -- Brine and Rub?
I plan on smoking some chicken wings this weekend (my Father's day fun). I would like to brine the wings and apply a rub. I am concerned about saltiness. Does anyone have a good combination brine and rub for smoked wings that does not make them overly salty? I would like to brine, rub, smoke and slight char -- Please share any experience or advice. Thanks in advance.

https://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2013/02/cajun-chicken-wings-recipe.htmlThis is my go to. I haven’t ever had luck with wet brines and crispy skin, so only dry brine and air chill.

There are some good wing cookers here who brine their wings but I'm not among them. For me the optimal prep is to rub them 24 hours or more before you plan to cook them and let them sit uncovered in the refrigerator.

my mistake with wings is always putting too much rub on, its a small bite, go lightly with the rub. lighter than you think you should.

no brine here... cook @ 400 raised direct.
like @Foghorn said best to rub 24 hours. I like lemon pepper or S&P as i get older.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). -
Timely post! I usually trim them, rub them, and put them in the fridge overnight. Was planning wings two days ago and something came up. So this morning I got two-day-old-dried-out wings wings getting tough in the fridge. So I brined in molasses and salt for a couple hours. On the egg now - will update later.Signal Mountain, TN

I just finished a jar of dill pickles, so I've got some pickle-juice-brined wangs in my very near future.___________

I've never brined wings until recently. I did apple cider vinegar, water, and hot sauce, all equal parts or so. I stirred in some table salt. It came out very good.
