Filing a homeowners claim for a $1200 egg is not a good idea.
Agreed. Filing a warranty claim due to a severe weather event also a moronic idea. IMO

Surely you don’t mean that filing a claim after a tornado hit your house is a moronic idea.

Yeah, warranty claim for egg due to flood. Denied! Moronic!
Homeowners for just the egg like Michael described. Stupid!

    You pick your category.

Homeowners just for the Egg, when there is clearly other visible damage as evidenced in the photos from the storm, is short sighted.

When Katrina rolled through here, we lost the roof on the shed, all our fences were down, downed trees and branches, water damage from rain/wind in the house.  If your BGE breaks in that event, it's pretty moronic to not claim it as damage as it's part of your policy.

Obviously you don't want to make a claim if the damages are not substantially above your deductible as you need to weigh that against a possible increase in premiums.

Flood insurance is a separate type of insurance.  I'm not keen on the details.   We didn't flood during Katrina so we didn't have to make a claim.

Why is the questionable individual trying to claim warranty?

If there is substantial enough damage (as explained by NOLA) to file a claim, fine. If not, suck it up.  You do not try to file a warranty claim unless you are of low character or just ignorant of what warranties are supposed to cover.

wow, not to hijack my own thread and I truley appreciate everyones input.  I may have mis wrote this.  My main purpose was to share hoping this doesn't happen to anyone else.  I probably came off a bit much, but I can replace parts buy another cooker etc, just make sure your egg doesnt do what mine did.

You mean when you went on and on about how BGE wouldn’t cover what was obviously not a warranty issue? Your intent was crystal clear. Thanks anyway. 😂

    I blame Obama.

His stance against coal during his socialist administration ruined the Komodo cooking lifestyle, making it impossible to reclaim lost carbon particle and volatile organic compound emitting sources after storm damage.

    We may never recover.

I thought that was some of my best stuff, however it was categorized by the Flaggots as a troll.

Sorry for your loss. That sux. Back before my BGE days I bought a nice 6 burner gas grill from Sams with a lifetime limited warranty. It was one of their house brands with the fancy blue lighted dash.10 months in the lights quit working so I called to verify warranty. They said bring it back for an exchange. I procrastinated for a couple of months as it still worked and getting that big thing back to the store was a bit of a chore. As my luck would have it we experienced a very rare Derecho straight line wind event with an eighty mile an hour wind gust. Launched my grill into the neighbors yard two houses down. Needless to say it was trashed. I got very lucky in that when I called to explain, they still took the pieces back in exchange for a new one.

Ron I did not flag your post and generally enjoy your comments, however, your first word in that last sentence is not necessary.
