I've had worse Sundays...

Recently bumped into another egghead in my part of the swamp. @HTXRebelSmoker said he was going to swing by a butcher on Saturday, and things kinda took off.

He brought the groceries, and I provided the accoutrements. Samosa pinwheels for the apps. Homemade buns and rolls for burgers and sausage ( jalapeno, jalapeno cheddar, venison). Broccoli marinated in Italian dressing, which was tasty and new to me. Poppers dusted with DP Pineapple Head. Bacon... 'coz bacon! Beet strawberry sorbet for dessert (not pictured). A good few beers.

The sausage sammies really turned out. Homemade rolls, peppers and onions, homemade garlic aioli, squirt of mustard, pimiento cheese, more onions... Dang!

The kids spent most of the day in the pool, and probably ate their body weight in popsicles. Bonus to be able to celebrate  Pops' birthday at home again.

A day well spent with family and friends. I think I'm winning :)

A day with family and friends is always a winner. Good food, a pool, and beers make it even better. Those kids will remember those days too - and do it with their children.

Pretty easy. Here's where I started:

    https://www.ruchiskitchen.com/veggie-pinwheels-party-appetizer/

My changes - I used half (each) of a red and green bell pepper, more onions, minced ginger, coriander, cilantro, and more cumin. Made the potato mix the night before. Was feeling lazy so didn't make the dough. Plus I had a sheet of puff pastry that needed to be used up.

Bake until browned on both sides. I egged 4 of these (375F, raised direct, higher in the dome), just to test, and they were better than the oven version.

Nice meeting your Pop (pic #2?) and wishing him happy BD, great spread as usual, have to look into that samosa pinwheel thing. Was kind of startled when I first read the thread title, if I did something even close, my thread title would be I've had a hard-to-beat Sunday !

Thanks, Gary. My weak attempt at humor :)

The samosa pinwheels are simple, look neat, and tasty. The filling can be tweaked all kinds of ways. I added cotija cheese to the last batch and some guests really liked that. Could even add meat to the filling to make them mo' bettah.

The egged version turned out crispier, and seemed to brown better than the oven version. I'll probably egg them next time.

Hey man, I'm not one to discourage anybody from bringing a few hrs worth of meat to be eaten (with sides) to my pad. God knows I have enough charcoal.
