I found a 12-oz can of tuna way in the back of my cupboard, and it looked like I purchased it in 1983. It wasn't leaking, stained, or bulging, but tipping it, it sounded like it was 1/2 full of gravel.HeavyG said:I'm good food-wise; I still have a few hundred cans of tuna leftover from Y2K.Some of the cans are bigger than when I bought them a decade or so ago. I guess that is just the tuna inside growing over the years so my six ounce cans now have ten ounces of fish. Sweet bonus!!
Carried, gingerly, to the trash.
I really should have some water on hand, at least. Otherwise, I could stand to lose a few pounds..."Hallelujah, Noel, be it Heaven or Hell,

Should be safe to eat. Might not taste great. Metal content will be much higher.Botch said:

I know you’ll be occupied over the next couple days but if you get a free moment, a quick post to let us know you’re okay would be greatly appreciated. We care about your little hippie ass.

Today is pretty much a dreary day, little sprinkles of rain occationally. The sun has squeezed through the clouds every now and then. All vehicles have full tanks, not much to do but wait. I don't think we will have any issues with surge where I'm at or in the New Orleans city limits that are covered by levees. Some of the outlying communities that are outside levee systems have water on some roads. That is pretty common though.Rain will be the main problem. Or could be. The forecast is for 7-8 inches through Monday. If we get that much rain spread out, we should be fine, if it's concentrated in short periods of time, it doesn't take much to overwhelm the pumps and the ground is saturated.Personally, I don't think we'll get that much rain here. Moving west towards Baton Rouge, I think they're going to have some serious problems with rain. Don't wish it on anyone, but this storm will probably be moving towards Lafayette which is a couple hour drive west from us.______________________________________________I love lamp..

I’m waiting out Barry in Lafayette (2 hours NW of NoLa). It’s coming dead at us. East side of the storm will get the brunt of the force. The doomsday local weather man claiming 15-18” of rain. Weather channel saying 5-9” thru Sunday. 50mph wind, we’ll be fine. Jim Cantore is in NoLa, he’s the angel of death! 😳

Yes be where Cantore isn’t!

Rainfall totals will depend a lot on forward speed. 15-20 inches has consistently been listed as a possible number for the hardest hit area. Exactly what area that will be has been the question. That's seems to be answered now.ColbyLang said:I’m waiting out Barry in Lafayette (2 hours NW of NoLa). It’s coming dead at us. East side of the storm will get the brunt of the force. Jim Cantore has been struggling for stormy photo opps here in NOLA. It was a fairly nice day until late this evening.
Best of luck to you. Hopefully it will be a non-event.New Orleans LA -

I was looking at the hazardous weather statement for New Orleans and it reads like a novel. I'd hate to be new to the area and have to decipher all this:

Looks like Barry won’t make hurricane status. Still pushing 3-6’ of storm surge and torrential rain. Barely raining here in Lafayette currently
