Easy bake ovens?

Got a buddy who’s not an egg guy. Wants something simple. Steering him towards a Pellet grill/smoker. I know nothing other than what I’ve read here and other forums. He’s trying to stay under $500. What’s the go to brand and is that doable in his budget?

The only "simple" is to visit your nearest restaurant and pay the check. For less than $500 he can get a Weber Smoky Mountain. It's the only other smoker I've had that will let you cook for more than a few hours without adding fuel. I've done many 12 to 15 hour cooks without adding charcoal. I do have a Cabelas 7 in 1 that will work on gas I've only ever used the gas burner to light the charcoal.

I have an XLBGE and LBGE, but I'm also a Traeger fan, own a Pro 34 and a Ranger.
He'll have to settle for one of the portable units if $500 is the budget:

They are literally like easy bake ovens, here are a couple of my recent cooks:

$1 under budget. Great pellet grills:

I sold mine for a Smobot last month. Just not enough smoke for me. Smoke rings are fabulous on pellet cookers tho. -
I have absolutely no experience with pellet grills but I talked to a guy last week that was cooking on a trager. He said he also had a pit boss from Walmart and really liked it. They look reasonably priced.

After buying that pellet grill and getting some experience with them, it's as simple as loading up pellets, setting the temp and knowing when the grub is done so you don't over/under cook it.

My neighbor just got a camp chef pellet smoker. I helped him put it together and it seemed well made.

It appears to me that this is the same as their woodwind that sells for much more.
While searching I noticed a newer model on sale at dicks

Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg. -

I really made some good bbq on my Weber kettle. Using the snake method I could get enough time to cook a pork butt or even a brisket. If a friend came to me with the $500 budget I’d have them get a 26in kettle and put the rest of the money towards meat.XL BGE, KJ classic, Joe Jr, UDS x2
