Eataly was my go-to for meat for my last 2 years in Chicago. Great place and a foodie heaven.

    Enjoy!
I’ve been to several of them. Always nerd out at the meat/seafood counters but have always gone as a tourist with no place to cook. Enjoyed it every time
    ive been.

    Cricket anus is delicious.
Even though I haven’t tried it as of yet, I have no doubt that it’s a delicacy my friend.

    Where are you staying at?
We usually stay a Palmer house but they didn’t have enough rooms for my whole team this time. We ended up at Hilton Garden Inn Magnificent Mile. It’s not quite the Palmer House :). The Weber grill is the house restaurant. I’ve had a few drinks there but haven’t eaten there.
Yep, know exactly where that is.  Have you ever been to Jake Melnick's?  It's just a couple blocks north of there.  Great chicken wings and bloody marys.  If you go that way you have to stop into Streeters Tavern.  It's a nice local bar that's below the street.  The Beacon Tavern and The Pink Pig are near your hotel too.  Great places to eat.
We used to be regulars at Streeter's back in the day. Somehow, they had free drinks most of the times we were walking past there en route to another venue

Thank you! We will hit a few of those tonight.
If you happen to be carousing until the wee hours, and aren't the only one who craves greasy spoon Pakistani food at such times, head to Pakeeza (1000 block of N Orleans). Divey, and possibly not for the faint of heart. But you won't get food like that in a joint with tablecloths!

Or get there in the morning and order a parantha-omelet with a cup of tea. It don't get much better.

Eataly was badass. Every bite was amazing and $150 for the same crew we had last night for $450.

They're good folks. I lost count of how many free cab rides I got from there between the hours 3-5am. No matter where I was, I always knew I could get home safely if I made it to Pakeeza :)

I'm with you on this one.  I wouldn't go out of my way to order them but if they showed up I'd give 'em a shot.  Hate to hear the restaurant was disappointment as I had high hopes for this one.

I use them both for fish bait.  Then I eat the fish I catch! B)
  • When I was in high school, a student who had immigrated to Canada from Mexico used to bring dry-roasted crickets to school for snack. Eating them caused me no grief. However, seeing legs caught in other students’ braces was a little off-putting.

LOVE chicken liver. Calve's liver is good too, though not as good as chicken. Calve's liver must be served with bacon.

Didn't even know crickets were a thing. Other than the awareness that other cultures eat all kinds of things. But I'd still give 'em a shot.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Last time (7+years ago) in Chicago for Toyota meeting we ate at Weber’s where they just had Weber charcoal grills. As i recall it was good. Not sure if still in business now.

Ok, I misread the thread title and was confused why @Eoin was not all one this.

So I guess this image takes the discussion no further forward at all....
