OT - RTIC Warranty

Well I for one will not be purchasing another RTIC product. Back when the original orders were placed the warranty was 5 years.  This 45 was purchased Jan 2017 and now has de-laminated on the bottom which has created a bubble of sort.  Contacted RTIC and was told it is outside the 1 Year warranty window so tuff sh/t. Asked that the warranty was 5 years when purchased and again too bad so sad. Great service and sometimes you get what you pay for.

Probably because they don't make those models anymore?  So they don't care.  Didn't they have to change all their coolers and tumblers after the lawsuit?  I can't remember.  Made in China.....so not surprising.

Yeti is a 3 or 5 year warranty depending on the model.  Made in the Philippines, China, and allegedly they contract them out to a few companies in the US when demand requires it.

Pelican.....LIFETIME warranty and made in the USA.
  • @stlcharcoal - yes they did change the design slightly after a fire sale to conform to the lawsuit. I think it was more for using the Yeti name in their marketing campaign.

  • Orca Coolers is another one also made in the US and lifetime warranty. Pricing is similar to Pelican and the like

Ha!  To tell the truth I only picked it up because I was in a jam for a cooler like this that would hold stuff well for a couple of days. I walked into Diks and all they were carrying were YETIs.  Otherwise I doubt I would have paid a premium for one brand over the other, nearly identical looking one.

Edit: had to change the spelling of the sporting goods store to Diks because apparently the actual spelling is some kind of a sinful word.  JFC.

@JohnInCarolina You've got it.  For as long as I have been on this forum (can't recall if it was the same way on the original) Richards has always tripped the police when the nickname was used.  Thus Richard heads abound!

I used to work with this guy that every time he walked into a public restroom would ask really loudly, "Is this the place where all the d!cks hang out?"

I've got at least a dozen of the cups/bottles and 3 of their coolers, but I've stopped ordering from them too.  When you call them, it's clear they want to get off the phone and leave you with the problem.  Happy customers are not their focus.

I've also been waiting on them for a drain plug for going on two years now.

I have a plastic Coleman cooler.
I think I paid $25 for it.  Thirty-some years ago.
    It's very lightweight.
    It hasn't delaminated.
It keeps things cold all weekend long.
I have to go back to work on Mondays so I don't need longer.

I've always been a cheap cooler guy too. My niece took my last decent cooler (large Igloo with wheels we used when we did catering back in the day) and never returned it so I was running a little short on cooler space when this one popped up. This is my first fancy cooler other than the yeti hopper I got for free and later sold. That was the worst cooler I have ever owned. I got if for $0 and still felt violated.

At least Dik's is legit. I once tried WhiteHousedotcom from my work PC. Seriously NSFW! Or was years ago when I made that mistake - no idea what you get now. The correct addy, of course, is .gov, but I just wasn't thinking. No recollection of why I wanted to look at the WH website (or who lived there then or even when then was). Anyway, my company's filters caught it and I got a phone call from the head of Security. Not just a simple *****. =)

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Google "rockwood ace" instead of "rockwood ace hardware" and see what pops up.  Also NSFW!!  The guys up at Ace HQ in Chicago got a good laugh out of that one.  I think we found our new spokesman.

That is pretty funny.  I just checked BTW and it seems pretty tame.  Mostly seems to be a collection of links to current political news.

Go buy another one, and you're still in for less than a single YETI.  Maybe @Lit will buy this from you.  He's pretty big on the RTIC brand.  Do a four day ice test on it and see what, if any, insulating properties you lost.

Maybe is like a blue dress vs red dress or yanney and laurel thing, but I can't see a sizeable bubble in there.

I just scored a new Yeti 45 for $200 AND is has Tito's and Traeger logos on it. Guy won it in a contest and already had a couple. Might have to buy a Traeger (I have the Tito's covered)

The wife bought me a Traeger for Father’s Day last year. I like it. It doesn’t take the place of the egg but it definitely has its place. I use it more than I initially thought I would.

Cabelas brand is Made in USA (unlike YETI) and from what I can tell at least seems heavier duty than both YETI and Pelican. They are really over-built but I'm a sucker for over engineering.

    Like the warranty and products.
    ....but only for 5 years?

For $500, they should take pride and stand behind it for longer than that.  Especially when they are self proclaiming they are "wildly stronger" than their competition (who offer LIFETIME warranties).

Oh no it’s an RTIC song,
like an RTIC cooler it won’t last long.
    Same thing, half the price,
delaminating bubble but it still holds ice.
    What happened to my warranty?
probably should have got a Yeti!

Yes, I can confirm that they do build some Yeti Coolers in the USA, some are made right here in Oostburg Wisconsin, they make about 700 hard side coolers a day at the plant here.  The wife says all the hard sides are made in the USA, parts may be imported,  but if you see a "DP" logo on the bottom of a Yeti hard side, it just may be from Oostburg, WI.

Mine does not have a DP on the bottom but does have a “USA” sticker on the bottom whatever that means.
