We had something like this a few years ago, when folks here were using info from OpenSecrets to conclude that companies like Apple and Google were trying to buy politicians.

When looking at data, it is sometimes helpful to understand how it was collected.  TIA

I don't see ANY problem with police departments taking guns away from criminals or buying them back and destroying them.  Seriously, what's the big deal?  I don't get it.

Buying them "back"?  They weren't theirs in the first place.  It's a BUY, and I don't know of any other program in the world where someone or some entity buys something just to throw it away.

Again, as long as they're not junk, why not sell them to law abiding citizens who will pay $$$ for them (and go through a background check.)  CMP does it with once military M1's, 1911's, 1903's, and more.  Like I said, the STL City PD sold their MACHINE GUNS to us private (law abiding, fingerprinted, photographed, and background checked) hillbillies and made $620,000.....and then another $600,000 for their old Berettas 92s.  I would have been PO'd as a taxpayers if they would cut up $1.2M worth of guns when they were buying $1M worth of new ones.  They got all new pistols and still had money left over.

I guess I should toss my Benchmade & my IPhone & my music collection & the movies on DVD here.  While I’m at it, I should stop watching tv because the entertainment & news industries are liberal (a big sacrifice for a guy about have 2 or 3 months off work).  Maybe I can use my downtime to develop a test to determine who I should patronize?

When you say “I should boycott this because of that.”  The next logical step is “If I’m boycotting them for that, then I should also boycott those guys for the same thing.”  And so on and so on.  See how silly this sort of thing gets?

edit:  I’m not saying all boycotts are bad.  For example, if I were a traveler, I would boycott going to San Francisco.  Not because the place is chock full of lunatic liberals trying their hardest to perfect a socialist utopia in the USA, but because of the human feces that’s hip deep in the streets out there.

The couple farmers I know hate them. They take as they have to. If they don't take them it automatically puts them in a disadvantage against the person who takes them. Especially when it comes to land rental. It kind of roller balls from there with other costs on the farm. Not every farmer necessarily likes subsidies

The subsidies force farmers to conform to antiquated rules on how they use their land.  I wish they would update/eliminate them.

Many of my neighbors have retired from their farms, and moved to town. They seem to be doing very well, travel a lot, trade vehicles often, and eat out every day.  I asked the couple across the street if they still get any farm income, and yes they are still taking subsidies and have a tennant farming the ground.  They said it's just too easy to get on the farm subsidy program, and then renew it each year.
