If your criteria for hating and boycotting a company is because they give more to democrats than republicans, you'll be selling almost every high-tech item in your house with Silicon Valley technology, which, BTW, drives American weapon superiority.  JFC, people.

I have a couple Benchmark knives and they're great knives.  I'd rather have one of them vs 10 Remington trash knives made in China.

Anyway, obviously a troll thread looking to draw lulz from the forum partisans.

I've always had Microtechs.  I demo'd the Benchmades out at SHOT Show.  Very smooth action on the automatics.  Doesn't look like they'll shake this publicity anytime soon, so I think I'll bring in Kershaws and Zero-Tolerance into the store instead.....I'm already a Shun/KAI dealer, so I already have the paperwork in with them.

Their statement of "we had the specialty equipment the police needed", and they show a guy with a friggin' handheld grinder.  The PoPo could have picked that up at Harbor Freight for about $25.  Hahaha.

This is worse publicity than the Springfield Armory and Rock River Arms fiasco a few years ago when they threw the small time Illinois FFL's under the bus.

I don't own any benchmades, and after their action, I won't in the future. I have a Kershaw assist pocket knife, plus several Shun kitchen knives. I'll continue to support Shun/Kershaw and leave the benchmade products for someone else.

BTW, it's pretty telling when a company has a booth at the Shot Show, and then (not long after) decides to help destroy firearms. I guess they didn't see anything wrong with pissing off a large part of their customer base. Whoever didn't think that decision through, should be terminated (publicly) and [at the very least] a public apology made. Even though I don't expect them to do this, it might appease SOME of those that they pissed all over.

Me either. I guess I’m just stuck in my ways. I still carry an ole Case pocket knife (sowbelly or stockman) and for hunting knives I still use Ka-Bar.

Half the country is bent out of shape because of where Benchmade gives their money...  Sounds very similar to the other side and Chick Fill A.  I guess that's fair that it happens both ways.

I still eat at Chick Fill A, and I'll still use my Benchmade knives.  I only boycott a company when they push their ideas onto me.  Especially if they're sneaky about it.

Equating giving money to organizations that are on the Southern Poverty Law Center's list of registered hate groups and giving money to the democratic party (and to be fair, they gave to both parties - really depends for businesses where you are located and who's in power) doesn't exactly seem like they're on the same level to me.  I dunno, you guys must be pretty smart.

I think the point is them saying they support the second amendment, yet they support anti-2A politicians.  On their website they say don't even give money to politicians, yet they do.  Then they go out and destroy what looks like a pretty nice SKS (and more guns) that could have been sold to raise money for the PD (yeah their rules may not allow it currently, but change the rule rather than throwing away money.)  STL City PD made $620,000 by selling the largest group of Thompsons that were still together and have the option of selling buybacks if anything good shows up.

Not arguing they make good knives, I just think customers and fans are PO'd because they got lied to about the company's values and where they send some of their profits.

I have a buddy that owns part of a company, and they give a fixed amount of money for every unit they sell to a certain type of charities they list on their website.  They have a HUGE following, and a very well respected brand for all the good they do.  Their peeps would be furious if they gave all the money to a different charity (particularly one that was on the other side of the opinion of from where they said the money went.)  That appears what happened here.

What do you have against the Japanese??  They make good knives, cars, and all kinds of other stuff.  I'm not buying Chinese crap, and I carry American made Micro-Techs.  Get over it.

  • This is reminiscent of when people started shooting up their $300 YETI coolers because they thought the company had somehow betrayed the NRA.

I respect your opinion, but Southern Poverty are as rabidly partisan as it gets.
