I would not post pictures of the slaughter or blood draining. Processing meat is one thing, watching an animal bleed out is quite another. Yes, I know it's part of the process, but this is a corporate-sponsored cooking website.  Not your Facebook page.  Said with all due respect and affection @SGH

  • People have posted pictures of deer hanging after a kill, pigs being processed to make sausage and other delicacies, and I believe I remember seeing a thread a couple of years ago about how to skin a rabbit.  I think you’ll be fine.

What really gets me is pictures of chopped veggies.  That’s the food my food eats..... how inconsiderate could you be?!?!? Lol

Remember last years thread about the demise of the Three Little Piggies? Done tastefully, without political commentary, and Buffalo free. It can be done again and expanded to goats. Got a smokehouse or a sausage grinder?

i would have missed that, the buffalo needs to retitle and stick that up top.  would also be nice if the ot forum did NOT show up on the main egghead forum page. that would make it alot easier to monitor the forum. i do not understand why the other forums are linked to the main forum

I am guessing you would have to kill something before you butchered it, if not that's pretty sick....

Farmer Jones got out of his car and while heading for his friend's door, noticed a pig with a wooden leg. His curiosity roused, he asked, "Fred, how'd that pig get him a wooden leg?"

"Well, Michael, that's a mighty special pig! A while back a wild boar attacked me while I was walking in the woods. That pig there came a runnin', went after that boar and chased him away. Saved my life!"

"And the boar tore up his leg?"

"No he was fine after that. But a bit later we had that fire. Started in the shed up against the barn. Well, that ole pig started squealin' like he was stuck, woke us up, and 'fore we got out here, the darn thing had herded the other animals out of the barn and saved 'em all!"

"So that's when he hurt his leg, huh, Fred?"

"No, Michael. He was a might winded, though. When my tractor hit a rock and rolled down the hill into the pond I was knocked clean out. When I came to, that pig had dove into the pond and dragged me out 'fore I drownded. Sure did save my life."

"And that was when he hurt his leg?"

"Oh no, he was fine. Cleaned him up, too."

"OK, Fred. So just tell me. How did he get the wooden leg?"

"Well", the farmer tells him, "A pig like that, you don't want to eat all at once!"

I suspect that even the most hardened among us could see how just maybe perhaps some with less calloused, scarred and grizzled hides could possibly, just possibly be a little upset ( synonymous with offended?) at seeing the slaughter and bleeding out part of the process?

Should everyone know where there food comes from?  Yup.
Do you have to see it getting killed or the bloodletting to know that?  Nope.
Does anyone here get to decide that for someone else?  Double nope.

sorry fellas.  to be offensive, something doesn't have to offend everyone.  Yeah yeah yeah, I can hear your nickel arguments about someone being offended by everything.  I get it.

This is the Buffalo's pasture, he's just letting you graze here.

If anyone wants to see slaughter videos they know where they can find them, they don't need to be posted here.

This ^^^^^^^ is a fact my friend. And as such, I have decided to not post anything else that could be considered offensive in anyway. I think I will spend my time focusing on my poetry and songs.

Why don’t you just stick to food?  I think you’re pretty good at that in general, the recent burial notwithstanding.

I still think @SGH is withholding information on how he cooks his Briskets. Just "Salt and Coarse Ground Pepper" doesn't make Briskets that look that good. Maybe the hole in the ground was the key and he didn't want anyone else to figure it out so he mysteriously stopped the post after that.

You know that brisket is still buried. Looking at the weather forecast it’s probably going to be buried for another 3 days or so. We have had crappy weather for weeks now.

I’d call it kimchee brisket but it isn’t even in a vessel. Probably gonna rise out of the ground on its own looking for Scottie to finish cooking it in Unit #1.
