I have the plastic version, wish I could've gotten the metal one for that price.
That being said, don't be too excited about the sausage stuffer items; they just don't work (for me at least). The grinder works fine; I have no idea why the difference exists (the auger is used for both, and that's what pushes the protein).

I have had the plastic one for more than 25 years. I only do bulk. I couldn’t tell you how many hundreds of lbs of venison plus all the sausage etc. not super fast. And I grind into a 5 gallon bucket set on a stool when we have a lot to do.Ozzie_Isaac said:$39 shipped ... I have had McDonalds meals cost more than that. It was $42.99, but they gave me a 5% clip&save button. 5% was off the original $67 price. Pretty sweet deal.Toxarch said:Apparently they do different prices for different people. Mine was $42.99 shipped with Prime.

this is the kitchen aide upgrade plates, not sure they fit this grinder but the diameters and thicknesses are listed to compare. it has a better stuffer plate and larger plates for chili grind and some style sausages. what yours is calling a stuffer plate i basically use for grinding green tomatoes for piccalilli

Something else I don't really need but now I want. That is despite the fact that we are not big sausage eaters.
My KA is probably 20 years old so it has the older metal gears and I'm not sure if this will work on the older ones. Anyone know if it will?

If it has the attachment port it will---You may not use it for sausage but once if you use any sort of ground protein it is worth having a grinder, even if just making hamburger'sSaintJohnsEgger said:Something else I don't really need but now I want. I need to double check on that. I also have a wheat grinder and a couple of 5 gallon buckets of wheat. I wonder how long wheat will last.
If I'm going to start bread making then I need to look into these things. Also on my todo list are building a table for my MM. Building some shelving for my ham radios and put up a 2 meter and an HF antenna out behind the house.
Dang it. I'm working more in retirement than I was when I was still employed.Marshall in Beautiful Fruit Cove, FL.

Impressed you haven't burnt out your KitchenAid yet. Mine gets pretty hot after a few pounds. Couldn't imagine doing a whole primal. If I was in your situation I'd head on down to Cabelas for a dedicated grinder I think.South of Nashville - BGE XL - Alfresco 42" ALXE - Alfresco Versa Burner - Sunbeam Microwave -
Mine does. I only make about 5 lbs at a time and the machine does get warm, but that's what I bought it for.SaintJohnsEgger said:My KA is probably 20 years old so it has the older metal gears and I'm not sure if this will work on the older ones. Anyone know if it will?
Won't use it for the stuffing again, though. I did get a (still untried) Lem (?) sausage stuffer."Dumplings are just noodles that have already eaten" - Jon Kung

I've got a big heavy 1HP dedicated grinder at the house that'll blow through a deer in 5 minutes. Then I spend the next 8 hours cleaning it.South of Nashville - BGE XL - Alfresco 42" ALXE - Alfresco Versa Burner - Sunbeam Microwave

My kitchen aide is a 30 year old Pro Model. I have never had it apart, but it trucks along with not a whimper. I don’t push it real fast although when we get going it takes a dedicated person to feed it scrap. It works, and doesn’t give me trouble and I’m a tight fisted stubborn Yankee. I I burn it up I’ll buy a used Hobart table modelSonVolt said:Jstroke said:

You should take it apart and regrease it. The grease has more than likely hardened and isn't lubricating much if anything. It's relatively easy to do. Your mixer will thank you.Jstroke said:
