Mexico beach hurricane cooks

Just got home from Mexico Beach. It’s crazy.... there is so much damage... I’m going to head back in a week or so and try a new strategy. Bring my griddle and a cambro full of smoked meat and set up shop in a neighborhood for an hour then move around all day. A couple of the sheriffs I was with are going to bring side by sides so we can get people actual hot food instead of trays of food that was hit 3 hours earlier.

@theyolksonyou @nolaegghead I really missed coming!! But, all the food I had prepped for brisket camp ended up in the hands of first responders. They ate pineapple gems, ABTs, Stuffed mushrooms, a bacon explosion and beef ribs.

I also cooked about 3 cases of pork ribs and 25 pork butts. There was another group that cooked some of the best jambalaya I've ever had!

It's all good, man.  I was in the hurricane victim boat for a while and I'd be disappointed if you *didn't* go and help them.

Plus, it was a good excuse to buy a big smoker for myself.

Now I need to deal with a relapse of "Katrina PTSD" after seeing those pictures...

Awesome that you went over and did that.  The response from all around has been amazing.  Took a couple of trips over to Panama City and Marianna, a little town to the north, with water and diapers and gas.  It’s gonna be years before it is normal over there.  Pretty devastating.
