I think both speeches will be more similar than different. It will be about McCain’s love for this country, coming together as a country despite our differences, promoting bipartisanship, and his lifelong sacrifices to this Great Nation as a politician, a Veteran, and a POW.

I meant more in terms of style and tone than content.  Nobody is expecting either of them to slam McCain, of course.  I’m guessing they’ll both share some personal anecdotes.

I've got CNN on now and they just reported that McCain requested trump not be at any of his three services (Aridzona, DC, and Annapolis).

The CBC provided a Senator McCain quote this morning during coverage on his death.

"To our allies: bipartisan majorities of Americans remain pro-free trade, pro-globalization & supportive of alliances based on 70 years of shared values, Americans stand with you, even if our president doesn't."
 
Senator McCain consistently acted and spoke with dignity and civility. A well respected statesman that the world will miss.

Sad day for sure. My one and only encounter with him was .... we passed while entering / leaving an airport restroom in Phionex. Got a nod and a ha from him. A heck of a patriot.

Whether you liked John McCain or not. Anyone who thinks a guy that got:

1)shot down

2)had his teeth literally kicked in multiple times

3)deliberately had his arms, legs, and ribs broken and left unset

4)was thrown basically into a dog cage for 5 years

5)was told he could leave and declined so he could stay with his fellow soldiers

doesn't deserve to be remembered should be ashamed of themselves. And that includes our President. You don't have to agree with all of McCain's political beliefs, but he should d@mn sure be respected. The man took his punishment and asked for more so that others wouldn't suffer the same. If that's not a war hero then I dunno what is.

As others have said. If we could somehow all take a play from his book and learn that we all need to be more civil to each other we could compromise. Unfortunately things are getting farther and farther apart. The "middle ground" is slowly eroding and isn't going to come back and its both sides that are responsible. People used to disagree and then have a cup of coffee together, nowadays people disagree and one calls the other a racist nazi and the other is called a left wing socialist. It's really a sad day for America in general. We need more John McCain's in the world
