It is certainly not one of the “hottest” hot sauces out there if that is what you are looking for, but more often than not I do not want extreme heat. This one just tastes great. I do not even bother with the other 5 I mentioned now that I have discovered this stuff. 

I'm always down to try a new sauce and having never heard of this one since @SGH approves of it I knew I had to track it down.

As is usual I go right to amazon and it turns out a vendor there has a 2-pack of one bottle of each of the red and black for what I thought was a very reasonable price given the way so many third party vendors jack up prices (more about that later).

They arrived today and after giving each a quick "dab on the spoon test" I know that this stuff will find itself a permanent slot in my hot sauce lineup. I agree that the heat isn't outrageous from either red or black (which is a good thing IMHO) and has a flavor that sets it apart from many similar sauces that I've tried. Tasty stuff!

It also gets an extra star for the intelligently designed bottle cap.

About that "reasonably priced pack" - after I had unpacked and tried the sauces they were sitting out on our kitchen island while I finished reading the morning newspaper. My wife walked by and mentioned she had seen those sauces at Kroger the other day when she was there looking for a different sauce. I thought surely she must have been mistaken but when i went to the Kroger website not only did they have them (in aisle 12) but the price...

Well....shiiiiiiiiiiiiit.

So, don't be like me, be smart, and check your local vendors first.

Whether I pay a buck a bottle or 3X that amount this sauce is a keeper.

I am not sure where you live, but if you have a Piggly Wiggly close you can get it for about a buck a bottle. Or you can in my neck of the woods. I have even seen it at Dollar General down here in Dixie👍

Yes it is a different sauce. The one he was referring to was “Ortego”. It was discontinued years ago. It was made by Allen Ortego in Ville Platte, Louisiana. 

Believe it or not, I still have a bottle. I keep it more for sentimental reasons but here it is in all its stale glory. Maybe the last known with sauce in it?
No that is not the normal color.

I can't say for sure but it had to be near the end of production. It sits in our lazy Susan just to be part of the family to this day.

I am a huge texas pete fan, so much that I want to get the cowboy logo as a tattoo. 

But I have many other sauces, from mild to melt your face off hot. I love super got foods

My favorite hot sauce is Backwoods Beast. My father-in-law bought me a bottle as he passed through Mississippi on his way to Texas several years ago. Best tasting hot sauce I have ever tried. If it's bottled with a cork it must be good!

And...you guessed it, they don't make it anymore. Oh well...

My new favorite is Crystal hot sauce. I went grocery shopping with the wife yesterday intending to check out some of the sauces mentioned in this thread.
Food Lion has both Valentina Mexican and Crystal. I tried the Crystal last night on wings, it was delicious and not excessively hot. I may try the Valentina Mexican next trip. The Mexican restaurant in town has Cholula or something like that they bring if you ask. I drink very little soft drinks, but always get the Jarritos lime soda when we eat there.

Agree. Crystal is my favorite readily available store bought sauce. 

This thread makes my mouth water every time I read it.🤪😂

Tabasco is my go to for anything except Mexican food.  I do use Valentina’s on Mexican food and as a base (instead of mustard or oil) before I apply rub on pork butts/ribs/etc.  it’s super cheap and does a good job.

West Indies Classic Creole Hot Sauce.This was far and away my favorite, but I haven’t been able to find it in quite a while. If anyone knows what happened to them or knows where to buy it, I’d love to know.
