I can see where this thread is heading,
so let me be the first to say I do not loathe her:

I'd like to watch her try and boil water on an egg in that outfit.  Wait, the verdict was water couldn't' be boiled on an egg, right?

C'mon, read the reason why he lists the knife at $950. He's making them himself, and doesn't want people walking off with them w/o understanding its a felony. And $120 for a steak dinner for 2, in Hollywood. C'mon, I'd have to pay that much at a Ruth's Chris's in noplaceiana.

So, I guess this is a reverse Friday dwell and sear post, right-O?

Yes this is purely for entertainment value. Hence why I stated Pre-Friday in the title.

I even stated in my 1st post that I get why its $950. I read that article. But that just screams Douchery wanting to charge a guest at your restaurant that. That $950 knife aint gonna cut any better than a Henckles. Its purely to add to the experience of what he claims he doesn't want to be perceived as: snooty.

His parents (the evil geneticists, Mr and Mrs APL) probably engineered some "ruggedness" genes into his DNA, then he trained as a lad under Bear Grylls each summer.   No wonder you hate that guy.

This is a trick question, right?  The answer is neither of the choices, the answer is you?

Privileged white kid who wanted to live the pirate life, gets a mad drug addiction, squanders a God given natural talent for years, then writes a book blasting everyone in the industry...and manages to become the very creature that he berated in print?

Hate him? That dude is my spirit animal. Falling up in life has been lifelong dream.  =)=)

I find Lang a bit silly but it’s schtick. I was a bit surprised that he’s opening his restaurant at the kitschiest location in LA but he’s kitschy himself.  I really like Bourdain, he comes across as completely unassuming. I don’t hold an addiction against anyone. Never liked Giada, try to not smile for just one sec.

As Rhett said, frankly my dear I don’t give a flying fuq.

I like looking at Giada. I did not know she cooked. I have watched her many many shows and have never seen her cooking. :)

I wonder if she’s pretentious.  I mean just look at that... what were we talking about again?

  • My brother-in-law gave me an APL cookbook. The recipes look great. I figure I’ll try them when I have a week or so off work for the requisite prep.

To add to his dbagery he apparently refers to himself as "APL". Who refers to themselves as anything other than their 1st name unless its a name on a forum of course =) I can just tell based on this guys fake "rugged" look and his referring to himself by his initials and his ugly steak knives I hate his guts. I don't even have to meet him. I hate him.
you sure focus on his physical appearance an awful lot.  I'm sure it doesn't mean anything, just an observation.

Stating 1 time that the guy's shtick is clearly to appear "manly" and "rugged" so as to further solidify that he's some BBQing Guru means I'm "focusing a lot" on his appearance? I'm more annoyed by the fact that he calls himself APL. Not his friends calling him that, he calls himself that. If I walked around referring to myself as RAB my friends would rightfully so, kick me right in the scrot.

Oh man, you’re right.  I totally misread that.  My bad.
    Love you bro!

Ill day this, if Lang was to open a place close to me, say charleston, I’d give it a try for $120.

Don’t worry, you can just start another thread on someone else tomorrow.  Maybe Vince Vaughan?
