@Eoin - From your perspective I believe anyone in the USA is referred to as"Yanks" and we get that.  Now, if you are traveling over here and use that term to describe someone in the south you could have a problem but with the accent you should be forgiven.  "Bless your heart."

with the rump steak, are you talking from the bottom round or the whole rump with maybe 5 muscle groups making for one huge steak which is what my old english butcher sells.  gotta love a steak that fills the whole plate. calling a southerner a yankee would offend the north

It is like many words.  When used by a "yankee" it is used with pride.  When used by a "southerner" it is deragatory.  You must be a yankee to use it, otherwise you are a segregationist.

Rule of thumb: if you call it the civil war you can use the word yankee.  If you call it the war of northern aggression, you cannot use the word yankee.

Then there is "Damn Yankees" which could be used by a southerner who dislikes that New York, NY baseball team. Back on topic in the Off topic post,
Brisket, Beef Ribs then pulled pork.

Being called a yank by those outside the US never bothered me.  I was raised in the south if that matters.

We do know that when you're in Latin America and you hear the phrase "Yankee feo" (prounounced "Jon-kee fay-o") that it is not a compliment.  


As far as the meat goes, if it's high grade meat and cooked perfectly - I'll declare a tie between brisket and beef tenderloin.

I bought a 48 pack of Costco brand beer once.  Wasn’t terrible, but definitely haven’t purchased again

The bell rang for this brewery over 30 years ago. Dang, old memories.
