If it makes it into the Gulf, that's a MFer.  The Gulf is one fire this time of year.  May God be with those who face this monster.

Looks inevitable this is going to hurt.  I hope it turns north soon!

  • I hate the fact that if it turns northerly soon it is going to gut Florida right up the middle. On the other hand I'm still working on my roof, New Orleans' flood pumps are iffy and Houston is still flooded and impossible to evacuate.

I'll check the updated probable paths and post them tonight. Back to work now.

185 mph now.  This is rare.

  • Working in SoFla right now in prep of Irma. This is looking horrible. We are trying to secure the electrical feeder grid, as much as we can.
It's going to be a hell of a ride this weekend, most gas stations are already out of fuel, those that aren't have jacked prices more than normal, and grocery stores are getting wiped out.
God bless and everyone be as safe as you can be.

My Brother is a city manager for Plant City FL, he's not allowed to evacuate. I think he's sending the family North though.

  • I'm freaking out a little here... Living in paradise is great but it's a known thing around these parts that it can all come to an end when the "big one" hits.
Happily egging on my original large BGE since 1996... now the owner of 6 eggs. Call me crazy, everyone else does!

  • Taylor is a senior scientist at the national hurricane center.  Not exactly what you want to hear.

Still a good amount of uncertainty on path for this one, but it's looking like one mean SOB.

  • We are up in the west part of the Fl panhandle, Sam's, WalMart, Publix all out of water today, gas stations got the cars lined up. I can't say anything I picked up 20 gal of gas for the gen. Hoping it doesn't make it this far west but if it does you'll see me, the wife and dog heading out of town with the travel trailer in tow.

Now for real. This CAT5 Irma is a scary b!th looming over Florida like a mean ex that decided keying your car wasn't enough.  Suddenly she appears in a rage wielding a archaeological artifact 64# sledgehammer while screaming "I'm here to fu©k sh|t up!"

Then she uses the court system to legally take all of your money now and possibly for the next 21 years.

Bought Oodles of water. Getting the propane tank topped off tomorrow for the generator. Did a full-on PM and load test on the generator. Stocked up on food. Will likely Buy more essential beverage tomorrow
Be safe. Have they said anything to y'all about evacuation?  My guess is it's way too far to see or make that determination yet

This is beyond scary.  I was here in Miami for Andrew and going through it again is very scary.  Going through the storm is one thing...then it's the weeks/months of no power in 90 degree + weather and lots of standing water breeding mosquitos.  I'm so proud to be a Miami native!   :s

  • I just saw this on youtube

On wunderground.com it shows that the path has changed from West to WNW. That might mean that the Florida eastern seaboard will be to the left side of the eye. It also means that Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina are now in the crosshairs. All subject to change over night.
