Flame boss 300

Anyone bought this yet and any feedback welcome. I have the 200 and have had problems with the jacks/sockets. To be fair Flame boss replaced under warranty no problem but am interested how the new model performs.

There are a few floating around here.  I do not have the 300 (I have a 100 and a 200), but those that do, love them.

I am sure a few guys will pop by tomorrow give you their feedback.

Don't tell your problems to people.  80% of people don't care and 20% are glad you have them.

I have the 300 and love it. Just did a pork butt for 14 hours over night. Love this thing. I'm up now pulling it off for ftc thanks to the text alert for meat temp. Love the app and being able to change temps on my phone. I only use it for overnighters so I can sleep with no worries, Im always paranoid with overnighters and usually stay up all night to monitor temp and never enjoy the next day festivities. Hit up @stlcharcoal if you're thinking of buying. Seriously, private message him!

FB has an app now?  Is it only for the 300?  I always use the Web interface.  Still a big fan of FB!

Have used mine for over a month, and over 20 cooks.  Looking forward to the app when it is released.  For now, works great with just the web browser on my phone, but have to sign in each time you do a cook if you want the "control" feature running.  I actually gave a buddy my ID number when I was doing some pulled pork for him.  He thought it was pretty cool.

@LKNEgg not yet, I use the word interchangeable. They said later this month of May when I emailed customer service. This was in April

"Thank you for your inquiry regarding a Flame Boss® app. We are currently working to develop native apps for both the iOS and Android platforms. The iOS native app is nearing final development and is tentatively planned for release hopefully by the end of next month. Once the iOS app is released the Android native app will come soon afterward."

I could be mistaken but I think the only difference between the 200 and the 300 is the capability to support more meat probes.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

There are some upgrades/changes to the circuit board, plus the addition of a transmitter to broadcast directly to your phone (like at a competition where Wi-Fi or internet isn't available).

@littlerascal56 can you share any info on your table?
    Thanks

I fabricated that table in my shop, and have since removed the 5"' casters and put on rubber tired wheels.  Much easier to move from shed to patio..to driveway...to garage.  The FB 300 is mobile too, just flick the blue Mag-Switch base, and I can move it over to my other grill.  Or can pull it off when I am doing pizza's or high temp cooks. This table does not take us a lot of room in my double door shed.

Oh..and disregard the orange bags of RO in the background.  Just got back from HD.  There is a lot of Rockwood in the shed too!

I started beta testing the FB300 this summer, and it has been pretty much flawless. And the support from the company has been stellar to match. I do now have the new higher temperature probes - I have not had any issues with the old ones, but I guess it is better to have more margin for error. when I got the Egg, I learned quickly how to control the temp, but the FB300 is an added convenience, and I love being able to see and control everything from inside, especially on hot days when we have company and I don't want to keep going outside. This has definitely been a valued purchase.

  • This is the best way I know to show the capabilities of the Flame Boss 300.

This is my first post to the forums, because I just got my LBGE.  Prior to this, I had never used an Egg.  So, I decided to test the Egg and the Flame Boss to see if I could achieve 225 for low-n-slow cooks (We love our BBQ here in Western Kentucky!) and if so, how long would it go?
    • Smokeware SS cap set half a pencil width open
    • Plate Setter legs up
    • Cooking grate on top of PS legs, pit probe clipped to cooking grate
    • Half a basket of Royal Oak lump into the Kick Ash basket
I lit the back of the basket (side furthest from front vent) and left the lid open for 15 minutes to get the lump started.

9:47am - Turned on the Flame Boss 300 and closed the lid
    10:05am - Egg up to temp @ 223 degrees
    11:50am - Pit spiked temp @ 228 degrees
    6:52pm - Pit dropped temp @ 223 degrees
    8:07pm - Pit dropped temp @ 223 degrees
    9:06pm - Pit dropped temp @ 185 degrees

Over 10 hours the Flame Boss only allowed for 5 degrees of fluctuation.  This was achieved by a complete novice, who had never used a Big Green Egg or Flame Boss prior to this burn.  If that's not a testament to both companies, I don't know what is!

FB 300 is nice,  but they really need to change the colors of the 3 different meat temps. Orange,  goldish brown and greenish brown?

Their technology works great, but I can't tell the meat temps apart...
