There are a lot of good options other than farm raised. Just more expensive.

I do not think eating too much will be an issue but I do like canned tuna and I hear that is pretty bad for mercury.  That may be my only issue.

Comparing canned tuna to fresh fish is almost like saying you don't know which cut of pork to buy so you're going with Spam.
There is an entire world of fish that can be bought fresh and affordably.  Just do your research.  Any of it can be simply prepared on the egg with light seasoning in a minimal amount of time (8-10mins).

I was not claiming canned tuna was the best the sea has to offer.  My comment pertained to the mercury content.

Oil?  Really?  I always thought the water would be the way to go.  I am doing a lot wrong.

Yep. Kroger's had it five for $10 the other day. Snagged 10 of them. One of the few items that I found is too expensive on Amazon.

I looked around, and found that some species from Superior can safely be eaten once a week. From Michigan, which is very badly polluted, once a month.

Do note that good fish will be expensive from anywhere, and probably only become more w. time.

When I was a kid, smoked chum from Lake Michigan, more precisely called cisco, was a common dinner. My mom would buy as many as the local smoke house/fish shack would allow her, which was 12. The place was usually packed w. customers. Prob'ly why there aren't so many chum available these days. Working man's lunch in Chi was herring, .60/lb. Again, not much left, if any outside Superior smelt.

The influx of zebra and quahog mussels has done way more damage to the fisheries than when the alewives came in. At least the Coho and Steelhead could eat the alewives.

One more historical note. The Illinois river used to be the 2nd largest source of fresh water fish in the US, right after the Columbia. Now? Care for some Asian carp?

There are people, @gdenby, that eat those asian carp. Hear tell that they are tasty if prepared correctly. I cannot speak from experience, nor will I ever. I do fish Lake Michigan and Lake Superior and eat a fair number of salmon from those waters every year. Typically cedar planked on the egg with a light coating of something on top.

    Quahaugs (clams) are saltwater bivalves.

Didn't read comments. But if no one has mentioned it, orange roughy is probably the fish your looking for. Great and no fishy taste.

Fish tacos were fantastic!  Exactly what I was looking for.  I think I want to change up the sauce.  I would like something with a little cool, sweet, tangy flavor.  I had some extra cayenne pepper so the fish had plenty of heat.  I might try this-

If it is anything like the Longhorn version it should be pretty good.

Thanks for the taco recipe.  I will definitely be making them again.
