I have no problem with what is reported they did or why.  I'm not aligning myself with Spicer, but if I had people on my team doing this, I would absolutely address it.
Sure I just think everything that's going on there suggests maybe this isn't the most cohesive group.  If lots of the staff are using apps that allow you to text without a record... that's maybe indicative of some systemic issues beyond the use of the apps themselves.

As to the leaks and cries of unfairness in anonymous sourcing, administrations can't have it both ways -- complaining about leaks and unnamed sources while simultaneously insisting that quotes be attributed to "senior White House officials" is disingenuous at best. Every administration in history -- ALL of them, including the last one and the present one -- has leaked and used unnamed sources when they thought it would serve their political ends. The difference now is how brazenly they complain of "unfairness" and brand the media the enemy of the state when they don't like the coverage. It's not at all about the substance of the reports; it's demonizing the delivery source so every bad fact can be called unreliable.
It's as if you're saying they don't have a right to try to control how info leaves their organization.  They have every right to, it may be futile to try to absolutely plug it, but you can't just shrug and let it go.  And yes, they can have it both ways as long as media are willing to report anonymous sources.  The thing that strikes me about that article that John posted is how it is soley focused on the 'they're such a mess' story.  News?

Agree, time to fire some folks if they are showing they can't be part of a team.

I think what he means about having it both ways is that relationships between the WH staff and the media are two-way streets - there needs to be give and take.  Just expecting to control everything is unrealistic.

I don't think any of this qualifies as "news" or something that's particularly newsworthy.  It's just being reported, for the obvious reason that just about anything that happens inside this WH that leaks to the press (and there are a sh!t-ton of leaks, let's face it) - gets reported.

Maybe I was less than clear:  it is hypocritical for the administration simultaneously to USE unnamed sources and "senior administration officials" to leak news and also to complain of reporters using unnamed sources and receiving leaks. Capiche?

As to the plugging, good luck!  See below for a nice blocked and copied tidbit on the latest efforts. Ooohhhh I bet everyone's really, really scared now!!

According to Politico, Spicer warned those present that there would be "more problems" if news of the meeting and "phone check" was leaked to the press.

Of course it happens, of course there is a history of this, but that doesn't mean thy can't pursue plugging leaks.  Content and extent of leaks is important.  This happens in businesses too, and is similarly pursued.
I would be much more concerned if the leaks were untruthful or the information created a security risk. When it exposes potentially illegal/unethical actions or relationships with foreign governments that wish us ill, I feel the leaks are more of an obligation.

And you know anything about which you speak, how? I wonder why it's a serious crime to leak things? Prolly so regular misinformed folks can decide which things are ok and which aren't.

Yes, i "capiche" I heard you both. Not saying it's not hypocritical, they are using bravado and noise to try to influence the press and our reaction to the press and that sucks.  We have press and plenty of citizens that are actively trying to tear down this administration. Both parties are at fault in my eyes, to the point that this is harmful to all Americans.  I don't like him, but he's my President.  The ever-present "yeah, but..." arguments are draining.  I was addressing the reporting of the leak and the specter of a witch hunt, or mocking of an ineffective one.  People on the inside are stirring the pot with "can you believe they called us into a room and examined our phones" and that is disloyal and destructive, and I bet those individuals feel like the cool kids because of it.  These aren't matters of national security or legality, that is precisely the point.  Those people need to work somewhere they can be loyal and be productive.  This (any) administration absolutely has a right to pursue that internally.  I think tearing him down has become cool and entertaining to some people and they focus too much on that or see that as a means to an end.

What is this Cambridge police incident?  I live not too far from there. Beginning to wonder if this is somewhat akin to the Bowling Green "massacre".

A black professor returned home from a trip and was locked out of his house. He and another guy were breaking into his home. Someone driving by saw this and called the cops. A white cop (therefore a racist) arrives on the scene and by then they had gained entry. He tells the cop it is his house. The cop asks for I.D. The professor refused. It escalated. The professor gets arrested. Obama says "I don't have all the facts, but the cops acted stupidly."
Yes. I remember that. The whole thing was way overblown.

The foreign press is way more liberal than the domestic. Life is all about perspective and respectfully, I'll take mine over yours when it comes to our issues. You would be smart to do the same with respect to your issues. Look up and see if all press has always been granted access to every event? You guys are so knee jerk and superficial it's hilarious...

Hear that there is a big push to get Alec Baldwin to attend as Trump if Dainty Donny can't take a little ribbing...that would be spectacular.  The crappy thing about Baldwin's impersonations is that no amount of hyperbole can live up to the real thing....

It's just a sign of his own self-loathing.  If you had to eat 'Trump' brand steaks you'd put ketchup/Catsup on 'em too.
