Changing from 7 YEARS to 30 days is a big deal.  Egg owners know the value of a good warranty.  It removes the company from any long term financial liability.  Combined with a fire sale to get rid of inventory, I wonder about whether they plan to be around very long.  I really like my 45 - its a very good product and the price/warranty combo was hard to beat.  I would hesitate to buy a durable product that comes without a good warranty.

Definite red flags. Especially with the soft coolers, as I can see their more apt for failure with the zippers etc. But at this price point they're not exactly in the high end range anymore. Hell for $70 shipped, that's damn near Walmart prices. I still may buy another...

I don't foresee having issues with either of my hard sided coolers but the soft coolers could be another story, either way, just ordered a gray soft 30 from amazon for the same price as the rtic website, no tax because it's sold by rtic and get 5% cash back with my amazon rewards card. I'm hoping the company doesn't fold, I've been very impressed with their products for the price.
  • Just ordered a 30 soft side and I am debating a 45 hard side. Just haven't talked myself into it yet.

I just purchased a 65. I just hope RTIC doesnt come out with a cooler with wheels next week. I said I wouldn't buy one until they had wheels. I couldn't pass it up on the price. Going to need to come up with some type of cart
After a quick mod, I have one w wheels!

Got this email when I requested a partially refund on the soft side coolers I ordered last week (and still don't have in my possession).

Haven't decided if I'm going to keep them, or just going to return them. That kind of customer service...

If the price had gone up after your order would you have called them and asked them to charge your credit card for the difference?

The wagon was an end of the season gift from a team I managed, but it's a collapsible folding wagon that you could buy at any sporting goods store!

****'s has them on sale right now!  More things to spend money on from your friends at the Egghead Forum!!!

To be fair to RTIC they shouldn't have to give you a partial refund.  It stinks that you missed out on the sale, but a sale is for defined period of time.  Should a guy that bought a cooler 3 weeks ago get a refund too?

@JacksDad Many credit card providers offer price protection.  It might be worth checking with yours.

    Great idea, thank you.

To the other posters, give me a break. Many big companies offer all kinds of price protection for their customers, because they know it's a way to keep people coming back, if they feel treated right. Of course they aren't obligated to give me a refund. But I will probably never buy another item from them, either, if they don't.

That's right, folks.  I'm manning the phone.  So far I've been pretty unhelpful. Everyone has cried.

Regarding the warranty, in my experience their products are made pretty well.  They're solid-state with very few moving parts.  Sure, someone might throw a chef's knife in their soft pack, or a cooler might fall out the back of the pickup because a certain someone forgot to put the gate up, but these are the likely scenarios that will damage your RTIC product, and unlikely to be covered, even if the warranty was 7 years.

If the warranty doesn't cut it for you, buy an igloo.

The guy who forgot to put his tailgate up sounds like an idiot. He probably was trying to figure out what a Kielbasa was.  ;)

Got my 20 in today as well.  Built as solid as my 65.  Only thing I noticed from just moving it around after unpacking, the handle doesn't seem "stout" enough to last a long time if this thing is full.  I guess time will tell.  I'll be road tripping with it in three weeks when we go to Chicago.

Just showed up and I am pretty impressed for the price. Now how do I hide these from the wife??
  • Lunchbox came in last night. I like these coolers for the price. Are they Yeti? No. But I didn't pay Yeti price for them either. If they break or bust or whatever, then I've lost $150 bucks and I move on to another Yeti or igloo or whatever my budget allows.

It is kinda strange how they are cleaning out inventory and lowering their warranty at the same time. 30 days is nothing for a warranty. I mean if they had went 7 years to 1 year warranty, that's less of a flag.

Disregard the above post, computer problems (it said "whoops there was a problem", then I got trigger happy)! Sorry for the redundancy.  In other news, I just received this email from tackle direct. Apparently yeti wants to get involved in some sale promos too.

  • Having an inventory reduction sale is not a big deal. It just goes to show they way over ordered because they were initially selling like crazy. Now they need the money so they don't want to sit on the inventory. Those that worry about the warranty is kind of a moot point because a warranty is only good as long as the company stays in business. I have all 3 initial sizes and they seem to really work great. The coolers haven't been around that long but if they were getting lots of warranty work then that is exactly why they probably got rid of it, otherwise the warranty doesn't come into play and doesn't cost the company any extra money or materials.

I ordered a 45 Roto-Molded cooler along with the divider and basket and it was delivered to my US address earlier this week.  I now see that the SoftPak are now on sale as well.  I am debating between the 30 and the 40.  It looks like they have a similar footprint but the 40 looks taller.  Did anyone here see them side-by-side?  Is there a big difference?  I am thinking the 40 will be able to hold water bottles with ice but the 30 might be too small?
