It's always amusing to me that so many right-wingers seem to forget that one of their idols, Saint Antonin Scalia (who I recently learned was murdered by Hillary Clinton), was the deciding vote upholding the right to burn the flag as symbolic speech protected by the 1st Amendment. He also voted against  Congress' attempt to pass a law prohibiting flag burning a year or so later.
Interesting is correct. If he were a left-wing judge he would have voted with his or her voting block regardless of the Constitution or the law. See the difference smarty!

It's really funny how all the left-wingers only see one side of things. Just hilarious!
So..when a conservative justice votes conservatively it's always because they are the ones upholding the Constitution.

And when liberal justices vote liberally it's always because they are just voting with their voting block.

    Got it.

Funny how Scalia (aka "Mr. Originalism") viewed the 14th amendment differently when it suited his needs.

Hey - I'm still waiting for you to tell me what media outlets you read/listen to that are the unbiased deliverers of Truth. I asked a couple times in a different thread and never got a reply tho I may have just missed your answer.
I find his views on this subject pretty much in line with his views on flag burning. Just because it's wrong doesn't make it unconstitutional. Just because it shouldn't be done, doesn't mean it cannot be done. Correct? My entire point is the Liberal Judges want to make law. Your example is a textbook example of where a law should be passed, not a Supreme Court Ruling. Maybe I missed something.

It's a valid point.  I've spoken to a handful of WWII vets, and to a man I'm sure they'd all care quite a bit about what's written in a Pearl Harbor remembrance thread on an internet barbecue forum.  No doubt about it.

Obviously I respect and am grateful for our military, and Pearl Harbor was a devastating loss in military hardware, but especially in lives, and even worse, it was an attack that led to a declaration of war with another foe that resulted in massive loss of life, misery for survivors and a long rebuilding and healing process which apparently may never be complete.

Fishlessperson - (ALERT! ALERT! trigger warning!)

I think John's point was that Donald insinuated Pence was harassed, Pence, the audience and the cast all denied this actually was harassment, and the irony of "Safe zones" in a theater is diametrically opposed the the anti-PC rhetoric that he'd been preaching.

I think people should be more tolerant and stop trying to hurt others feelings with their words.

I think we all just find it ironic that the only folks around here who bring up "safe spaces" or "trigger warnings" are conservatives.  Some of these same folks flag posts they find offensive, whine about insults, or contact the mods to get threads shut down.

The tweet you posted makes sense if you read it following the tweet from two minutes before. Had you not read the earlier one, or did you choose to show it out of context?

I've seen it in context. I'm sorry but it remains a bizarro sentiment on Pearl Harbor day.

Wow.  that sure does change the context.  NOT.

Just an insensitive thing to say, when there's so much to say.

    Have a great day, buckaroo.

  • December 7 is a good day to remember that the world is dangerous and shattering surprise is possible even when we have been warned.

75 years ago the Japanese displayed professional brilliance and technological power launching surprises from Hawaii to the Philippines

  • Like I wrote above, it's a bizarre sentiment from Newt.  Even Trump got this one right.
