For the record, if I was in the US I would have also voted Johnson. I'm surprised more didn't. Fiscally conservative, socially liberal. Basically,do what you want, don't expect me to pay for it. That's my "preconceived notion" of how most Americans think.
He was unfortunately uninformed when it came to matters bigger than small state politics. he could have  cleaned up had he cared enough to read a book or even watch the news. He would have had my vote. But he was really, really bad when allowed to speak in public.
He probably didn't have the questions given to him prior to speaking in public ;)

Just a comment on the news items I've seen. I have some awesome friends who supported Donald. Not racist at all. But there are some that feel vindicated by their new leader. No denying that. Maybe <1% but that's still too much.
Was it a shot at all Trump supporters? Not at all.
Will be interesting to see how Trump handles the bigoted groups who supported him, because you are right, there is no denying they are there.  Playing with fire and all that.
He was asked today or yesterday if he regrets saying anything that might have inspired these jackbutts.  His response was pretty blunt - "Why would I?  I won."

Read it again. Then produce the email that with the exact wording of the question and what not. This is the argument I would expect from a grade schooler. Good grief!
  • @JohnInCarolina, she says that what the New York Times is saying is not true.

For the record, my book "Settle for More" does not suggest Trump had any debate Qs in advance, nor do I believe that he did.

If she is lying about it, we will find out, all we have to do is read the book.

Least educated doesn't necessarily  = stupid.
most educated doesn't necessarily = not stupid.
    ...

I did not equate education or lack thereof to stupidity ... just echoing the class divide we hear so much about, yup too juvenile to think it was obvious to all and didn't bother stating it.

All I want to know is should I go ahead and buy an XL now before Trump puts his planned 35% tariff on Mexican made goods or should I just wait because like so many of his campaign "promises" it will never happen?

I guess you should do it now. Based on both of your proposed options you would be spending the same amount.

Perhaps put that money towards some tissues to wipe up your constant crying the past few days.

This analysis by you is exactly the attitude that lead to Trumps victory. Btw, I personally find this kind of analysis juvenile.
Of course less education does not imply greater stupidity. However, less education on average does lead to a decreased tendency to examine issues from more than one's own viewpoint, and a decreased ability to change one's viewpoint. It also associates with a higher tendency to pay attention only to information that confirms what a person already believes to be true. It also tends to associate with linear thinking rather than nonlinear thinking (for example, a linear solution to the immigration problem in the US is to build a wall to keep illegals from getting in; and a linear solution to the hollowing out of the US manufacturing base is to blame it on trade deals).

Third world countries emerge from extreme poverty through two primary mechanisms; education, and some kind of health care safety net. Without these things, even citizens who start to earn and save some money fall back into extreme poverty by events like complications from pregnancy or a long term illness. The US continues to ignore education and affordable health care, seeing any reasonable solution as 'socialism'. 25% of Texans have no health care coverage; and yet one of the most pressing issues according to the incoming government is the need to roll back women's basic human rights by about 50 years.

Trump deserves credit for understanding his base, I'll give him credit for that.  This was a "color by numbers" type deal.

    Transition?

That appearance was at a campaign rally for Creigh Deeds who was running for Governor of VA in August of 2009 some 8 months after Obama had been inaugurated.

People should get a vote based on acreage.  10 million people living off the public teat in a few square miles isn't fair.  Its like starting a marathon at mile 19.

Oh, don't you know it! I think he should stick to his word regardless of the circumstances like the genius before him who blindly disregarded the newly discovered consequences of his proposed actions. You know, the guy right behind Carter on the list of quality Presidents.
