A few pics from our South African trip..

South Africa is still in transition from the old apartheid days, but there are lots of positive signs that things are getting better for the oppressed.. Having said that, the poor are still living in shocking conditions, with no running water, electricity and in squatter camps. The rich are very well off and are living a great life !!!! That is all I am going to say as this is not meant to be a political post.. Great place to visit !!!!!

We stayed with my SIL on their farm just outside of Port Elizabeth, and had a great time just visiting family and friends.. I did not take a bunch of pics but will post what I have and gladly answer any questions any one might have about the food and culture of the country... SA Rand dollar is currently 13.5 rand to the dollar.. Fellas you can't afford to stay sober..

These were taken at a private game lodge..

View from our room....

Digs weren't to shabby....

This is the way they cookout "Braai"... Wood is only used as a heat source.

Too many beverages... Similar situation to @Mickey famous wings pics !!!

That was impressive. Beautiful place. I shared your photos with My Beautiful Wife, and she was very taken by them.
I am glad the Rand was kind for you, and your trip went well with safe travels.
    Glad you are back home.

What a trip.  Quite the digs and surroundings.  You travel in high company-most excellent.  Glad it was a resounding success.

Great pics and thread. Brings back great memories of our family trip there for the world cup in 2010. For anyone thinking of going, know that a low budget safari in Kruger National Park is every bit as good (and in many ways better) as the high budget private game reserve safaris.

The sausage in the front left is "Boerwors" direct translation would be Farm sausage.. Very traditional !!! Next to that in the middle are pork sausages.. Far right is "Sosatie wors" a curry flavor..( slightly sweet taste).. The sausages at the back are Kasegriller cheese and garlic.
    In Afrikaans "Wors" is sausage..

Beautiful pics, thanks for sharing.  Amazing pics of the wildlife, and it looks like you were definitely "roughing" it with the lodging.  Hope you had a great time and glad to have you back.

Wow, what a trip! I think Africa is one of two continents neither me nor my wife have been to. I don't think either of us really want to visit Antarctica.

Looks like a great trip.  .

My buddy Henrik goes there all the time, he keeps a Yamaha Super Tenere adventure bike at his friend's place and tours around the country when he's there.

He'll be playing guitar at brisket camp.
