It's almost that time again. Do you guys think the joetisserie with a tumble basket like this will work for roasting the peppers or will it be too slow?

Cool gadget! Only one way to find out.

That looks awesome!
But, I used to roast my own just on the grill with all the flipping, etc. I finally did a taste test with the fresh roasted from outside, at the grocery store and couldn't tell the difference. Ever since then, I just pay a few cents more and have someone else do the hard work for me.Dallas (University Park), Texas -

I think that will work fine, even at slow speed. After all you are looking to char the skin. In Arizona you can buy them by the lug box and they roast they outside as you mentioned. Because of that, I rarely roast my own anymore. I would just spin them until they are uniformly charred and then put them into zip lock bags to sweat and release their charred skin. I splash a little water in the bag and then shake it around and out. Put the chilies in and leave em 5 to ten minutes, skin removal really easy after that. Happy Cooking.

I think the motor would turn it. You'll just need to keep your eye on your fire.

Either way...nothing better than fresh roasted hatch green chiles! Where'd you get yours from? Here's a batch I did last year:

It depends on your temp. I am roasting today on the joe using a regular grill basket. Stay tuned!BGE Large and MiniMax, Napolean 500. Obsessed with rotisserie.

I bought three pounds of hatch the other day because I remember all of the hoopla on here from last year. What the heck do I do with them?

I absolutely LOVE to mix some diced roasted hatch with pulled pork and make panini style sandwiches on the blackstone with pickles, pepper jack and a sauce we love around my place: mayo and secret aardvark (a habanero hot sauce.... amazing stuff). No BBQ sauce needed, this is a winner.
They are also amazing diced, roasted, and used as a topping on smash burgers as well
