BBQ joint fails health inspection

The cockroaches didn't bother them until the health inspector failed them.
Along these lines, Kitchen nightmares ruined eating out for me.

If you have to be retrained to wash your hands you don't have enough sense to be preparing food for others.

News Flash! 99.9% of all restaurants have some pests whether it be roaches, ants, etc. Some with rodents occasionally. Most I deal with are clean and pests kept at bay with weekly or bimonthly exterminator service. The problem is once it gets out of hand they have to shut down because now you're going to have to use too much toxic stuff to kill these pests. Roaches are in virtually every restaurant. Just because you don't see them doesn't mean they aren't chilling out in the ovens, dishpit, HVAC, cash registers, computers, etc.
Food being kept at safe temps, food handling and hand washing practices should always be followed. Those violations are easy to correct.

25 is an absolute joke. I've never heard of anything below the high 40's. I thought you got 30 points for paying the inspection fee

25 is pathetic. "Manager Paul Chan told Sbarge he is retraining workers to be sure to wash their hands." - How about you supply some soap first genius? One of the violations was no soap at the back washing station.Vacaville, CA

At home I wash my hands before I put on nitrile gloves to handle meat to cook and after. Like @johnkitchens said if you have to retrain adults to wash their hands they shouldn't be working there.XL, WSM, Coleman Road Trip Gas GrillKansas City, Mo.

Don't think you can really blame restaurant for roaches when they are located in a shopping mall but not washing hands and no soap at a sink in the kitchen is bad bad stuff.

Worked in a hibachi restaurant in high school and huge rat ran through the bar and one of the customers said “that couldn’t have been a rat, it was to big”.

I had seen critters in most of the restaurants/Country Clubs I worked in growing up. One was a nice restaurant in downtown Orlando where the average dinner was around $25 a person without drinks. There were rats around all the time no matter what they did we even saw them in the dining area fairly frequently when setting up and at night. The place was clean there was just nothing they could do with the old buildings to get rid of them.

I'm surprised that the restaurant's permit was reinstated! And this is a (fairly) local place to me....

Know a fellow who was working a few months ago at a branch of a chain BBQ. The building had been used as at least 3 other chain restaurants, and was so deteriorated that, according to the guy, they just couldn't keep the bugs out. He said the mosquitoes in the kitchen were the worst, tho' the flies were pretty bad. And then the roof sprung a leak. 3rd warning was the end.
But not nearly as bad as an all-you-can-eat where some of my high school buddies worked. Back then, there were still phosphate based detergents, so one of them would whip up a bottle bomb every day, and toss it out back so they could dump the garbage w/o being attacked by the rats.
Or worse, guy I worked w. lived upstairs from a fairly famous deli. He and his buddy would practice target shooting the rats visiting the dumpsters. But one night he returned to the apartment, fairly s__t faced, and wondered why the walls were black. Turned on the lights, and watched the roaches on the wall zip back into the cracks.

when I got my first BGE, the guy at the BBQ galore told me that it would ruin my restaurant experiences from that point forward. he was right and after seeing this, I am very reluctant to go out anymore.
Yikes!

What we don't know or see can't hurt us right? That's what you tell yourself when you go out to eat. What really happens to your food when you send it back for some reason. I was out with a coworker once that sent a salad back 3 times. What do you think extra was put into that salad.XL, WSM, Coleman Road Trip Gas GrillKansas City, Mo.

One of the best restaurants I have ever been to was a micro brewery a couple blocks up from the Beacon Theater in Manhattan . Beside good beer the kitchen was right in the middle of where you sat to eat and drink so you were able to see every thing that was going on ,food prep took place right in front of you . When we went to the Beacon that is where we would always go for food and drink .
