I want to order one bad, and I know it is a specialty cut of meat you will rarely ever eat. Unless I am missing something, they are on sale for $99 and average 24 oz per cut. That comes out to an average of around $66/LB or about $4 per bite.
I can appreciate a good steak and will pay more for prime cuts. I especially love a good ribeye, so the cap would be outstanding. That is a lot of money for that size piece of meat. Even for a special occasion, I can't justify buying it on sale. I am jealous of the ones that do get it though.

@jak7028 - if you are a member of Costco, occasionally they have prime rib eye caps for sale, around $17/lb. They are much more narrow than the SRF caps, jelly-rolled and tied. But a great cook if you can find them. FWIW-Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. Agreed! I'm fortunate because one of our local Costcos offers them on a fairly regular basis. I'm a big fan of SRF; just hard for me to believe theirs is four to five times better than what I can get locally.Rob

Thanks for the info. I am not a member since I don't live near one, but most of my family are members. They pick up items for me occasionally when we see each other. I have planned on going with them because of all the great meat prices they have, just haven't gotten around to it yet. Most of my family, I couldn't trust to get the exact cut I wanted or to hand pick the best piece of meat if they found the right cut. Not that they wouldn't try, I am just pickier when it comes to selecting meat.Wolfie51sb said:lousubcap said:@jak7028 - if you are a member of Costco, occasionally they have prime rib eye caps for sale, around $17/lb. spend the extra for the SRF over the RR. both are good but the SRF is otherworldly and you can get the RR experience with good meat that is nowhere near the cost. The SRF is the best steak I've ever eaten. The RR was a letdown- mainly because I paid $65 per lb for it and didn't think it was particularly special.Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX

My wife was out of town this morning, and my daughter was sleeping in, so what to do but make a trip to Costco? Score! Bought both packs in the case.

@Wolfie51sb - I find that they cook best in the unrolled state. Around here there are usually at least two caps per pinwheel. Great score. Enjoy the cook and eats.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. Missed out on the sale, I do enjoy a good cap steak.
I get the prime from costco that are rolled and tied into pinwheels. Reverse sear them after a nice couple hours of salt and pepper and they are insanely good. VERY large and very very rich.
I like SRF, but can't spend that on food all the time!!-FATC1TY

@lousubcap - I agree 100 percent. The previous two times I've bought these at Costco, they were packaged unrolled -- in strips if you will. Those from today not only are rolled, they're tied with butcher's string to stay rolled, almost as if the idea is to cook them in their present state. Will definitely unroll them and cook them quickly in a CI.That's what I love about these: fantastic flavor but a tremendously easy cook. Hot and fast, so you can't screw up.

@Wolfie51sb - seems Costco quite recently went to the jelly roll packaging. I found them that way last week- a month prior-strip mode as you mention. And you definitely have to go looking for the string. Never have tried in the rolled mode and as you say, the strips are great hot and fast.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood.
