    Good stuff all around.

So true. Looking into a fatbike for hunting and winter riding.  Would shave some serious time on the treks out and back.
Priorities are in order when your equipped Roubaix is more $ than either of the two trucks you own. lol

    Private Pilot certificate since 2012.
    I have roughly 200 hours in fixed wings ( airplane ).. @ $200/hour...

Same here.......bout 200 hrs.  Got my fixed-wing private add-on in 1999, but haven't flown once since.  Have 3500+ hrs in helicopters - commercial, instrument, CFI/CFII, but haven't flown one in 2 yrs.  A&P/IA certificate has dust all over it too!  Hope to get back into it one day.
    Very nice.
I am thinking about getting my rotor wing add-on just for bragging rights.

Well, you'll know how to work the radio then.  Get ready to have your azz handed to you on everything else.  Funniest thing was the 10K+ hr airline guys coming in and thinking they were going to add a rotorcraft category rating like they did a seaplane class rating.  That's something I really would like to do on a weeks vacation in FL or MN--get a seaplane rating.  Seems like a blast.

I can't argue with you on that !
My aviation has only been for fun and the CAP ( for some free flying ).

@leemschu I'm an absolute rookie when it comes to guns. I picked up my first hand gun a few months ago and have enjoyed learning about them along the way. Could you explain to me what the 3rd gun down in the first picture might be? Sorry if it's some obvious answer

I have yet to come to grips with my STEREO habit.   Large panel speakers, 1 stereo amp PER speaker, separate pre and dac.   And than you have to buy media.   Movies cost a bundle, too.
I forgot that one.  I feel my current system will last me the rest of my life, but yeah the SACD/Bluray 5.1 new releases nibble away at the wallet.
I've got OLD-SCHOOL stereo.   No multichannel for me.   At the level of my stereo, I'd EASILY exceed 5 digits and need to spend an additional 60K$ for a room addition, additional electric service panel AND acoustic room treatments.
IF I were to go for multi-channel.   Add another 5K$+ for a proper DISPLAY, either OLED or SXRD projector with SCREEN and than some calibration help, which for displays isn't cheap.   I can do the Audio portion, but would need to invest in some specialty gear and software.

Botch, if you have a 'home theater' rig, good luck getting it fixed WHEN it breaks.   4 or 5 years is about IT for some special parts availability while I've sent 20+ year old speakers (American Made) back to the factory and was only asked about grill cloth (sock) color.

About 4 to 4 1/2 months on a paper form 4 is what it took for me on the recent two I had.  I've had some buddy's get lightning fast form 1's going through on e-file.....like a week or two.  I'm never really in a rush, but anything is better than 13 months I once had to wait.

It's freaking ridiculous either way.  With the cash cow that NFA system is, they should be able to process these things in a week.  In fact, the wait and the BS is what turns a lot of people away.  If they got it down to under a month or just a few weeks, they could probably increase their revenue by boatloads.

I know it's ridiculous. i don't understand it should take 20 minutes to review one. I can't wait though.

I've hung with guys who did some of this same stuff..had a good time..and came to the same conclusion fairly quickly. With all that has happened in terms of the costs that certain generations are bearing now and soon will be in the near future?..even 'camping' (as a hobby) is getting to be a financial hardship for a growing share of this country who will (sadly) never know a smidgen of what is being discussed here.

@Focker I cannot recommend a fat bike enough!  I'm in Minnesota and picked one up in the fall.  I felt like an 8 year old again this winter. I have been riding groomed mtn bike trails and gravel roads when there is less snow. The thing is a blast to ride and keeps me off of the dreaded trainer.

Hi-End stereo is going the way of the DoDo.  Shows are mostly old-shits like ME, with few women.  The next demographic is Asian Men.   I attended a Hospitality Room once and the 2 kids (20 somethings) that came in were refreshing.

As for GOLF?    Now That can really run up a bill.   Not just equipement, but Lessons and the amount of play necessary to be anything more than a HACK.  In a 12 month season place like in SoCal, you can golf a different course 3 days a week for a couple months.    Counting the course on the Marine base, I can drive to 6 courses without breaking a sweat.

It's golf for me. Think I counted only 6-7 mentions on here by others in four pages of replies. Figured there might be a few more, but it seems like guns and fishing are the leaders in the clubhouse, which is not a surprise.

im just glad i bought everything in my 20's and 30's, cause in my 50's theres no pocket money anymore. even my 1000 square foot house would be out of my price range the way the market has gone compared to pay. banks were funny back then, my first mortgage was more than 3 paychecks a month =)

    ...at an outrageous percent.
Amen. We were able to not only sock away hobby toys for the rest of our lives but purchase property/homes (most of us) could't afford today.
And now we're telling our kids (what)..to save every penny that they ever get their hands on..forget the hobbies..prepare your families for the worst (expensive in and of itself)..and expect the best (which every single one of us knows is impossible).
We're the most fortunate generation in the history of man yet have no interest whatsoever in there ever being another.
