Golf. Don't even know what I've spent in the last 25 years. Every penny spent was worth it to me.

Not trying to be stupid here, but what is the difference in a book and a binding?
a book binding is the leather cover which is usually tooled (by hand, with brass stamps and gold leaf). Done properly, it takes most of a week to get the book sewn up and covered in leather (goatskin usually), and can take another week for the tooling.
Technically 'binding' refers to the sewing ('to bind') and covering in leather
I have records from the period which describe some books taking ten days just to do the hand tooling though. And so the tooling is what is really being collected.

Just Vote- What if you could choose "none of the above" on an election ballot? Millions of Americans do just that, in effect, by not voting. The result in 2016: "Nobody" won more counties, more states, and more electoral votes than either candidate for president. -

It's never that you need a new camera, or new lenses, just like you don't need a BGE. But you get caught up in the camera porn, and you like new gadgets, and you start figuring out how to budget for it.

Begger said:I have Curbed my photography bad habit. Spent a fortune on Canon 'L' glass and '1' series bodies, both film and digital. Currently have a very portable mirror less and just a few lenses.
I have yet to come to grips with my STEREO habit. Large panel speakers, 1 stereo amp PER speaker, separate pre and dac. And than you have to buy media. Movies cost a bundle, too.
My stereo habit was cured after I had a long talk with Luke Manley, the owner of Vacuum Tube Logic. Almost the entire talk was about music, not equipment, and how a good stereo should make you happy, not anxious about what might not be right about it. After that I started listening, and I stopped upgrading.

fishing can get insane, when i was younger i must have been insane or maybe smart enough to buy the best and get to use it for the rest of my life i have a few fly reels that if i bought them now would be over 3 k each, ted godfrey walnut sided multipliers, seamaster dual modes, offshore finnors on tournament stand up ian millers. lots of ari t hart reels. sage, thomsons, winston graphite rods from 3wt midge to 13 wt marlin rods,Lon Blauvelt handmade swelled bamboo midge rods. float tubes, a few canoes, 12 foot aluminum, 14 foot aluminum, couple kayaks, a 20 foot strip canoe grand laker project, a wooden sebago cruiser type fish and ski project, an eastern lobster boat, house on a lake, lake house house at camp, partial trust on a beach house with my own mooring, maybe 20 k in fly tying material, then theres the ice fishing gear, polaris 500x2, trailer, maybe 50 traps, nils/tanaka auger, iditerod suit, probably could count the truck in on this, the dog too and then theres my bottle cap collection. like i said earlier, good thing i bought most of this when i was younger, can barely afford the beer and gas nowadays( i can get 20 hours on 3 gallons with the trolling motor). docks in the water, boat goes in saterday for the early season test run. just got to add the down riggers, rod jiggers, overhead flyrod bridge, and the gas and back it in. fishing starts saturday

The bottle cap collection was from when you were younger? I would imagine that collection grows by the dozen each weekend.

Besides ceramic, wok and sous vide cooking, I make a little sawdust and fix things, some that don't need fixing (just curious). i also play around with photography and create videos to post on YouTube. I also maintain a few blog sites and generally play on the computer. I sometimes help my Sweetie with stained glass projects. I also like to write. I'm not stuck on one particular thing like golf or fishing or traveling. I just like to respond to the moment and see where it takes me. So far, I've never been told that I can't do something, so I take that to mean I can do whatever I feel like doing, whether or not I've got the tools or talent to do it. It's all an adventure to me...

The only hobby I've been actively doing lately is brewing beer and I need to stop or have a party as I've got way too much sitting around right now.
Used to be into RC cars and guns, but my main hobby right now is my son.

Well, you'll know how to work the radio then. Get ready to have your azz handed to you on everything else. Funniest thing was the 10K+ hr airline guys coming in and thinking they were going to add a rotorcraft category rating like they did a seaplane class rating. That's something I really would like to do on a weeks vacation in FL or MN--get a seaplane rating. Seems like a blast.nolabrew said:stlcharcoal said:Guns, pinball machines, guns, DeLoreans, guns, helicopters, etc.....all of which I never get to play with because I have four little kids.

Damn!!! I was there last week. Probably would not have had time anyway but thanks for the heads up. I've been to the Pinabll Hall of Fame in Las Vegas many times.....100+ machines there. There are two 75+ machine private collections here in STL that I've been to as well. I have my three favorite machines--might add a fourth some day.

A 55 foot ocean going cabin cruiser would have been nice, but in the end I opted instead for a 12 year long custody battle.
