    A tragedy?  Sure.

    Certainly not the greatest tragedy.

And yet we're still the least racist country in the history of the world......so full of hate.

The tragedy is that late night comedians are the only source of reasonable news talk. All the networks have to cram in 8 talking heads yelling and screaming instead of reporting. You would think in the 24 news cycle you would learn about more issues, instead they just endlessly speculate about the same 2 top stories all f***ing day. . . .

I would argue that this is incorrect with millennial's.  They're getting their news through websites and social media for the most part and not through the traditional outlets.  The reason for this is simple and similar to the way that the traditional outlets became popular and that's convenience.  Millennials spend more time on their devices and computers so that's how they take in the news.  This is also why the traditional outlets are struggling and failing, they're chasing ratings more to increase viewership instead of focusing on the news and how to better deliver news to the younger generations.

Relying on Jon Stewart is not the way to get news, and the majority of the millennial's know that.  He just brings out the comedy in the news and makes fun of the networks that we're all starting to hate so much, which is nice to see.  For me his show and the others are only funny when you already have an understanding of the news.

I saw that Glenn Beck held a prayer rally today, right next to a huge confederate statue of John Calhoun.  Some folks have absolutely no fvcking point of reference.

Tragedy because they're more informed?  For some parties, being informed = losing power.  That's a tragedy for them.

SURVEY: Daily Show/Colbert Viewers Most Knowledgable, Fox News Viewers Rank Lowest

by ThinkProgress Posted on April 16, 2007 at 9:57 am

A new study by the Pew Research Study shows that viewers of the Daily Show and the Colbert Report have the highest knowledge of national and international affairs, while Fox News viewers rank nearly dead last:

    pewtvGIF

Despite significant technology shifts, however, Pew found that “today’s citizens are about as able to name their leaders, and are about as aware of major news events, as was the public nearly 20 years ago.”

The results about Fox News echo findings of previous surveys. In 2003, University of Maryland researchers studied the public’s belief in three false claims — that Iraq possessed WMD, that Iraq was involved in 9/11, and that there was international support for the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.

The researchers stated, “The extent of Americans’ misperceptions vary significantly depending on their source of news. Those who receive most of their news from Fox News are more likely than average to have misperceptions.” Fox News viewers were “three times more likely than the next nearest network to hold all three misperceptions.”

We are among the least racist countries based on surveys but we're also among the most likely to lie about it because of the stigma in our culture against racism.

Yes we're one of the least racist nations....gasp, that can't be. America is the most evil country on the planet. We should be like Germany or France or....we're the only country in the history of the universe that was founded on blood she'd or mistreated a group of people.

Well the least racist country in the history of the world is a pretty declarative statement for a country founded on the notion that a black man was worth 60% of a white one and it took nearly 200 years before black people could go to school with white people everywhere in the country.

@Acn : You'll do as you want, of course.  Just make note that you're addressing a guy who proudly displays a famous quote from a Confederate general and slave owner in his signature line.

Even though [he says] he's married to an African-American, I doubt you'll persuade him in any direction that doesn't lead to the shade under the trees.

    Good luck, though.
