I would like to have a 69 to 71 Camaro or Chevelle myself some day.  A buddy of mine has a 69 Camaro and a 62 two door Impala that was his first car.  Both have been restored to like what @DoubleEgger has.  SWMBO talked me in to selling my last big toy in 2007 so I could get a 60" HD TV.  I miss that Jeep Cherokee.  She got tired of me putting money into it.  I was wanting to up grade the axles to Dana 44's, but she said no.  :|

When I was 16 my father gave me a 1969 442 with a 455 big block engine.  Midnight blue with a white convertible top.  Needless to say that car helped with the ladies

^^^^ When I was 16 my father borrowed me a 1994 Ford Aerostar.  Needless to say it didn't help with the ladies

I have a 1965 Chevrolet C10 Custom waiting to get to a guy right now.  Been on the waiting list for a while now though.  Been anxious to start the journey.

This was my late fathers truck that was given to me when I turned 16.  I have never driven it though as it had been sitting for a while and need some things done to it.  I would love to see the day when I can take my little girl for a ride in it.  I didn't get to take many with my father.

Also told myself after I get that done, I'd try to do my brothers car.  His was is a 1967 GTO.  It's a beautiful car.  Unfortunately, life hasn't been the best for my brother and it's sitting and likely rusting.
65 C10 will be a great lookin truck!  Lots of those around these parts.  67 GTO will be my next car if I get another one.  I like those even more than the 69 I have, fantastic cars.  Sorry to hear your bro cant enjoy it.
My dad bought the 65 C10 off a guy in late 80's, however he bought the 67 GTO brand new in 67 with only 19 miles on it!

My brother had it stripped, primed, new floor pans, and new trunk pans.  After that he got married, had kids, then divorced, and really ran through the ringer.  It's sitting in my moms back yard now beside the shed.   Now, all the work he likely did was a waste.  Motor is out and he actually has two motors for it.  One is a stroked 400 out of a Catalina and the other is original.  It was one nice ride for a long time.  I hope we can get it going for him in the future.

floor and trunk pans may be ok, rocker panels and fenders may not be.  If you ever get to it and need some direction for Pontiac specific help let me know I can point you to a few places that deal specifically in pontiac parts and good forums for help.

@ksmyrl if you like 80's cars you should look at a Grand National. Everybody knows that was the baddest car around in the 80's.

Not vintage YET - but my cherry '95 Vet with only 16k miles is 20 years old so some day it will be a classic! LOL. Bot it new for my wife to drive to school. Then when she retired 12 years ago it became a fair weather driver only. Last year we put 152 staggering miles on it! LOL

First, I'm a fan of classic muscle cars. I owned a few in my younger days. But they don't build them like they used to and thats a good thing. Before I dropped six figures on a classic rod I would just buy a new version. No hidden problems, warranty and they are more powerfull, better built and safer than ever. If I was wealthy I would have a few classic toys but for a working man without much time to turn wrenches a new Hellcat looks pretty good. Having said that when Barrett Jackson or Mecum auctions are on Im glued to the set.

The good thing is if you don't care if it is #s matching you won't pay anywhere near 6 figures.  You can get nice pro-streets for 30k

@rrp love the Vette. @Dobie ...that's a good point made by a few earlier. I CNA t help but think I can get into a 2009 Challenger RT for less than 20k. And that's a sweet ride.

@SMITTYtheSMOKER ok, the left most egg is the supercharger, the right most a passenger. What are you using the middle egg for?

Love the classic Mustangs, Camaros, Chevelles , Challengers but unless you're a merchanic or have alot of disposable income the current crop of muscle cars cant be beat for the same money.

Except the classics don't depreciate like the newer cars. I'll make money if I decide to sell (which isn't going to happen).

Definitely not an investment but at least it's not a depreciating asset.

I agree with this- especially if you are just buying it as a toy. My dad had a 35 street rod that he bought for about $30K.  He drove it for 10 years and  put well over 100K miles on it.  Sold it for $30K.

Buy any new car for $30K.  10 years and 100,000 miles later, it is worth maybe $5K.

I've got a couple of old rides, one convertible, seen below.  As stated earlier DO NOT buy it sight unseen.  If you aren't used to horse trading with old cars, I'd bring someone who is, preferably a mechanic.  Old cars can hide a lot of nasty things, I've been to the mountain and have learned the hard way but now I know what I'm doing a lot more.
Personally I don't like the 70's vettes, they cook the passangers feet, most are slow and your three year old might be happy this summer in the back but that won't last.
My little guy loves cruising in this:

Nice bird!  At the end of the Peoria Eggfest last weekend a guy rolled up in a 64 convertible white with red interior.  Nice conditon for 20K.  Wouldn't hesitate to pay that for a convertible bird.  Here is my old man's '65.  Was the designated flashlight holder in '81 when he started this project.

And me at 19 with my '67.  Will have another Stang before it's over.

There is a regular guy at the Maid-Rite with a 50s Chevy truck daily driver with the original petina paired with a nice set of rims and tires.  Dig the sh!t out of it.

No matter which way you look at it you are comparing apples and oranges.  Nobody gives a damn about a $30000 base model modern sports car, they are a dime a dozen.  Heads will turn with a $30000 classic.

I flushed and recharged my buddy's AC on his commuter car - old Honda.  I had a little too much firewater in me and I painted a hello kitty on his hood.  He thought it was funny and his daughter loved it....the wife, not so much.  I repainted his hood a few weeks later.

I have a friend who just dumped 6 figures on an Aston Martin, and loves the heck out of that thing. I get it. Follow your dreams.

@nolaegghead  That's fantastic!  My friend will be parking his Ford Fusion at my other buddies house for a weekend getaway. Ford Fusions don't have any special locks for their wheel covers.  I will be stealing his wheel covers and plasti dipping them neon pink. He's going to be pissed

fj40 landcruiser. i like it alot but its not for everybody, it is a very hard riding machine, the lower gears are not synched, you pretty much have to stop to put it back in first so i dont really enjoy riding it around town, but on trails its unstoppable and im not concerned about denting and scratching it =)  needs tires, brake lines all replaced with braided stainless, put a new oldmanemu suspension lift on it rescently. made the mistake of putting carb cleaner in the gas tank, dont do that if you buy something older, it lifted the varnish and plugged the carb up, i need to take that apart now. i got a descent deal on it, blown motor for 400 bucks, had a new one in it the next weekend after buying it. as bad as it looks, people are banging on my door trying to buy it

Not even a classic, but they have stopped making them.  The good old Chevy Avalanche and I was a member of the Ava club while I had it tell I replaced it with my current F150 in 2012.

I bought my truck cheap as dirt with a blown engine.  Ready to drop a new one in, did the compression test and it was just one cylinder.  Pulled off the valve cover and had a broken spring and valve.  I removed the head, put in a new #1 cylinder intake valve, spring, retainer, guide (PITA) and did full service on the truck.  Runs like new.
