How Do You Check Your Lump?
Not another "brand " thread, we all have our favorites....But your at the store, you can't see through the bag, what technique do you use to ensure the largest pieces of lump are in the bag?....for me, I try and "feel the density" on "my bag of lump"...I may shake " my lump bag" as well.

Shaking your lump bag is not good, more importantly it is possible to do irreparable damage to the individual lumps. Big lumps are not an issue, they can be broken up once you get the bag home. The small stuff is the issue, holding the bag firmly up against your ear, gently turn it over and listen for the plinko sound of the small stuff working its way to the bottom. Have a towel or cloth nearby, if you are under the bag you could get messy.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

I generally buy wgww and KJ bags which kind of bulge and look like they're packing some big chunks. Also try not to buy bags that are stacked.Raleigh NC, Large BGE and KJ Joe Jr.

Turn the bag over, then again. If it sounds like a rain stick, that's the small stuff falling through the large. Grab a decibel meter and hold to the middle of the bag. Go through all the bags at the store. The one with the lowest dB has the least amount of dust and small particles. This might take several hours but, I guarantee you will pick the best bag of the bunch.

I grab a couple of bags and put them in my cart. Then I proceed to drop every other bag on the floor surely crushing every piece in each bag. This way I'm ensured of having the largest lump.Steve

@nolaegghead - goes without saying, I’m just saying....
Some of the local cops have them, for testing the sound levels of those bikers who believe loud pipes saves lives. They are made by the same folks who make the hand held breathalyzers.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad! -
