That moment when you know the unexpected gar is about to shag azz with my $20 lure

Great shot! But what’s with $20 lures now days!!! I go into Bass Pro now and everything is out the roof. Had a bad day a few years ago and lost 3 right out of the package Mirrow-lures in less than 10 minutes. Spanish mac’s were thick that day at least that was only $18.
That is a great shot!  Pretty fish as well! I never caught one of those.
We lost a dredge in a blink last year to what we believe was a bigeye. $20 pound wight in stainless, split rings, leader  and let's go high and say $5 in plastic which when put together costs >$250.
    Something like this:

Burning lump in Downingtown, PA or diesel in Cape May, NJ.
    ....just look for the smoke!

Had our "AcqDemo" training this afternoon to learn how to fill in our annual self-appraisals (which were due, and done, two weeks ago).
There can be no more convoluted and ridiculous appraisal system on the planet, and I don't envy my boss (who has to do double the paperwork, for each of his 7 employees).  Retirement can't get here quick enough.

It sucks when the A/C goes out. Blower went bad. Getting replacement Friday.

Mostly we have beautiful unpolluted skies. As far as method: Use a tripod. Manual exposure. I think that photo was with a 35mm f2.8 lens (I'd have to check). I know I did a thirty second exposure with a remote release. I'm not sure what the aperture was set for. Probably f2.8 or f5.6. Probably about iso 800-1600 or so. Camera is a Canon 5D mk II

I tell my wife across the room that the Minnesota Lynx just won the WNBA Championship! My wife's response, "Who cares"

    I thought that was funny.

When your state hasn't won any professional Championships in the last 26 years you become a little desperate!

I was at the local bar last Friday with maybe 70 or so other people. The bar had the Lynx game on and it was a tight game going into the 4th quarter. I remember looking around and not one single person in the bar had their head turned towards the Lynx game.

I can't say I even knew the WNBA season started until I heard the Lynx were in the Finals last week. That's the honest truth. I did check the score the last five minutes of the game on my phone tonight

    What's a Minnesota Lynx?
Golf course outside of St. Paul. It has a pond, they do ice fishing on in the winter, which are the months September through June, July and August are bad ice fishing months, so they play golf.

We play ice golf. It's golf that's played on top of a pond. Yes it requires pull behind sleds filled with beer. Your description is pretty accurate!
