We make walking tacos.  Pur chilli in a bag of fritos, shake, eat with fork.

Cats are all skeerd because of the abnormally frequent thunder.  Ended day two of boat weekend.  Headed out to Grand Isle from Lafitte today.  Yesterday put in Lake Pontchartrain and went out to Mr Go.

@Botch a little bit labor intensive but well worth it. That's a a whole bag of fritos scoops. Gone in seconds. It's from the new cookbook that features the egg. Everything I made from it is a homerun

@sea2ski, what were you fishing for?

Black drum.  Had one one that was 40? Lbs.   not big by any means here, pulled the hook 10 get from the boat.  Buddy next to us got two -55 and 65 lbs.  The Delaware bay has them for about a month, then they disappear. did get a small shark, a skate and , 6 horseshoe crabs.  Oh well...
Never fished for drum. Parents have a place down in Del. Dad has a 23' walkaround. He mostly drowns minnows drifting for flounder. I tried to get him into wreck fishing for sea bass and tautog, but was too much work for him.
I forgot this time of year was prime drum fishing. Bowers area in Del bay prime right now.
Do you go out for tuna?

It is "easy" fishing.  1/2 bushel of clams and a couple of oz of lead. Only time of the year you can run 15 mins out of the inlet and have a chance at a 20-80 lb fish. They do not run fast, and depending on the tide, can really fight.  Toss the big ones back and keep a 40 lbr or smaller for the table.  This year they were 1 mile north of the cape may inlet in 12 ft of water and they were there in good numbers.

Tuna?   Oh yea! ...if the weather allows.  Seems like the winds like to blow the most Friday to Sunday and lay down Monday- Thursday. I am itching to get to the deep soon. Bite is picking up from what I hear. Hope to wrestle a sword this year too.  We have plans for a double overnighter if there is a weather window.

If not we are drowning minnows for flounder.  If dad needs a new rod, and you need a good Father's Day present, the ugly stk gx2 is what I reccomend.  Get it in the heavy action 4 foot 9 inch length. Buddy got one last year, and I picked up 4 for the boat.  Perfect for flat fish up to 20 feet deep, and can jig for hrs with it it is so light. $40.

No need to run for tog.  We catch them without going to the ocean.  Let me know if you need help.  This was from earlier this year. Sounds like dads boat would be perfect for togging:

@nolaegghead - we did the same thing yesterday. Launched boat from Seabrook harbor on Industrial canal. Went past Mr Go and under Paris road bridge. Took Chef Pass into lake Pontchartrain and to my nephews house on lake Pontchartrain in Slidell. The lake was a lil rough for our 23' Sportsman or any boat for that matter. I guess that why we were the only boat on the lake.by

For some reason this year, on this day, during most everything I have done, I have thought about all the men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice for their country. So we can continue live and prosper in a free nation. I did not realize that there have been over 1.2 million that had given of themselves so I could wake up every morning and decide for myself what I will do, who I want to vote for, say what I want to say and pray or not to whom I choose.

I don't think I will ever take this day lightly ever again.

    Thank you all.
