One nice thing about our recent, 3-week draught: no mosquitoes at all. Sittin on the back patio, firepit and waterfall running, beautiful evening.

LoL. Thanks @lousubcap & @pgprescott I'm getting back to basics. Lots of cooking, smoking, grilling, egging and baking going on since early evening yesterday. Egg has been hot since about 7pm yesterday.

Helping my dad break in his new summit charcoal grilling center with 5 slabs of babybacks“There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body.”

@Hans61 - better to be lucky than good any day. Insights appreciated as long as you don't stir the buffalo

I like me xl bge better - that being said I was impressed with it! Came up to temp really fast - we played with the dial and temp responded fast both up and down. Outer shell seemed hotter to the touch. I don't like how the center ring of the gourmet bbq system falls out. I don't like the charcoal bin it doesn't swing open like on a performer. I bought my dad bge grill gripper and small ash tool - it works good for lifting the hinged grate and defusor plate. It holds temps well but my dad and brother were fiddling with it too much. I'll take a pic after we get the ribs out of the foil!“There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body.”

I did some ribs and wings a couple weeks ago and couldn't even tell I used any charcoal.

Good call on the gripper. They should have one for this grill. They do have an "ash hoe", I'll call it which I would think is pretty handy for moving coal around if desired. Remember, with the Weber ash system, you don't need to rake out the ashes. I didn't experience the issue with the center grate, other than without a gripper it's hard to remove. The cooking grid is a tank.Hans61 said:I like me xl bge better - that being said I was impressed with it!
