    But perhaps at a deeper level where the forest is the pack analogy and the light is good dog praise and the alpha drove the intellectual dog as punishment for anthropomorphizing the squeaky toy....(*whine*)

    Everton are 8th so the season will continue until they nail down 7th.  That’s the rules so suck it up, more of this bilge to come I’m afraid.  I’ll be honest the county cricket season free-to-air coverage online has distracted me during most of my waking hours.  You have no idea how captivating it is to watch virtually nothing happen for 6 hours except for chaps in nice jumpers to occasionally clap or move a bit.  Really is a joy to behold. Except when it rains or they are having tea.

    Friday;

    Southampton v Leicester,  Big Bren and his lovely teeth can scent CL next year and there’s nothing Saints can do to impede that. 0-2

    Saturday;

    Palace v Man City, 0-4  or worse.

    Brighton v Leeds, irritatingly Fulham can only theoretically catch the filthy Seagulls to open the relegation abyss and I just don’t think they will.  1-1

    Chelsea v Fulham, a neighbourhood dispute in the poshest part of old London town.  3-0 and the Cottagers are sunk.

    Everton v Villa, fits & starts all season for these two but the Toffees sit higher in the league due to their marginally better squad.  Meh 2-1.

    Stoke v QPR , @Eoin is already pining for next season.  This one was better than the last, so that’s good but we are very much in the deadspace of the season.  Stoke standard 1-1.

    Sunday;

    Newcastle v Arsenal, an obdurate Toon could repel the flimsy Gunners but then again they could implode spectacularly.  In fact both teams have that option ‘in their locker’. 0-0.

    Man Utd v Liverpool, formerly a game of peak commercial excitement.  Two of the ‘Naughty 6’ meet with the Reds needing points to clamber back in to Europe next season.  Hard to tell if they will as Ole’s boys smashed in 6 mid-week and will be ****-a-hoop with brouhaha.  2-2

    Spurs v Sheff Utd, Just how are Spurs one of the big 6 again?  Anyhoo a soulless and lacklustre win is probable here. 1-0.

    Monday;

    West Brom v Wolves, near neighbours each hoping for the season to end.   The Baggies are all but relegated and Wolves have become a bemused pastiche of their former selves. 1-1.

    Burnley v West Ham, clash of the clarets and the visitors will need to work hard to sustain their perviously inconceivable push for a top 4 finish.   Dyche’s lads will be no pushover but Lingard is flying for the Hammers. Hard earned 0-1.

    That’s that lads.  You’ll miss it when it’s gone.  Maybe.

    Big dog.
    4 foot fence (1.2 meters)
    Big dog is midway between fence and I.
    No photoshopping
    The fence is at the bottom of a hill. Dog is at the top of the hill. The dog is not smart. I thought it was funny that he looked to be contemplating.

    @CPFC1905, thank you for that as always.

    Arsenal will beat Newcastle.  Otherwise I agree.

    I found your comments about Wolves both accurate and interesting.  The biggest questions I have right now with regard to individual players are "Is Adama Traore a great winger who just needs to be on a better team so he can team up to have more success - because currently there appears to be nobody to get on the end of his crosses?" - and "Or is he a one trick wonder who is frankly ineffective (because his crosses are not very accurate) and a defensive liability at times and therefore more responsible for Wolves downturn than most realize?" - and "Why isn't he playing rugby because he looks like he might be one of the best in the world with some proper training?".

    Two things;

    1) "accurate and interesting." An astonishing turn of events!

    2) I like Traore for all the reasons you list and the fact he takes to the pitch fully lubed in Baby Oil.   He has Zaha and Mahrez alongside him in a similar
    bracket, except the latter is now at a big club.
    In my very narrow view of football, both Traore and Saint-Maximin have 'typical Palace' stamped all over them.  We are the natural habitat for the peaked too soon / never peaked brigade that have the whiff of the exotic about them.   I tender Andros Townsend & Max Meyer as my evidence.

    You're absolutely right.  He'd be a perfect piece to add to the Palace collection of near stars.  As I think about it, more than maybe any other team, the impact of the manager is key at Palace.  They're like a jigsaw puzzle of odd pieces that might - or might not - fit together.  I wonder what Moyes could do with them?
