Slowing the pace of the rocket fuel load.  Gotta finish polishing the virtual bar (no snarky comments...) and positioning the chairs and tables for the appropriate social distancing before doors open at 9 PM (EST) tonight.
    All welcome.

Doing a turbo booty to have on hand for the weekend.

  • Just some wangs n pizza

And an egg that hasn’t been fired in a while

Awesome!  Have you ever tried using wing meat on a pizza?  It can be truly epic.  You just have to be careful nobody steals the wings when you're not looking!

@JohnInCarolina - never thought of using wing meat on pizza. Mrs3969 isn’t a fan of wings hence the low volume. I could see a buffalo wing with bleu cheese being outstanding. Might need to cook it crazy hot say like 2000° or sumpin. Idk

You cook the wings first, then cut off the meat to top the pie.  I've made a chicken-tikka masala pie that way and it comes out great.  BBQ chicken pizza would also be great.  I've never tried buffalo wings with blue cheese on a pie but that sounds amazing.

After a futile international break the PL is back.  The table is still looking wonky with Southampton 4th and Aston Villa 6th, Man City nowhere to be seen and Burnley languishing second bottom.  I wonder if the points need to be recounted?

Newcastle v Chelsea; the Toon are difficult to pin down as reasonable mid-table fodder or hapless, Super Frank’s Chelsea have the talent but not the consistency yet.  Close away win 1-2

Aston Villa v Brighton; on day 1 of the season the Seagulls would have pegged this as winnable - not so much now though.  Villa could end the season in any position but their dander is up, Brighton’s isn’t. Could be a shallacking but 2-0 very likely.

Jose v Pep; Spurs are 2nd and City 10th but beaten just once this term.  All about the managers and a tedious stalemate, 1-1

Man Utd v Weest Brom; even Ole’s odd-bods can see this home. 3-0 but if not, ‘taxi for Ole’.

Stoke v Huddersfield; top 6 bothering Potters could stamp their credentials today with a win over the Terriers who are not exactly sparkly.  2-0 mainly to give @Eoin the jitters.

    Sunday

Fulham v Everton; one point in 4 games and 3 straight defeats did The Toffees believe their own hype?  Should get back on form with a routine away win against the relegation destined Fulham. 0-2

Sheff Utd v West Ham; Blades have to get something here otherwise things will turn bleak in the steel City. 0-0 written all over it.

Leeds v Arsenal; both beaten soundly last time out and eager for redress.  Could be the match of the weekend as both teams like a bit of fancy-dan, tippy tappy running-around-a-lot football.   7-8 as possible as 1-1 & on that basis I’m going 1-2 for the Gunners

Liverpool v Leicester; 3rd host 1st. Salah on the naughty step for getting Covid adding to the well stocked sick bay at Anfield.  Timing is optimal for the Foxes, Vardy will enjoy running fast at bang-average defenders. 1-2 and Klopp has some thinking to do.

    Monday

Burnley v Palace; with gaols in this fixture like hens teeth I’d recommend this is not the game to introduce your friends to football.  If not 0-0 then 1-1 and a relative fiesta of football.

Wolves v Southampton; great test for both teams as they are in good form. Ings injured for Saints makes me lean towards a home win, 2-1.

That’s your lot for this week and it’s just 35 sleeps to Christmas.

Nope. My mother had a baby grand Steinway that I used to dust, clean, and polish as a youngster. It was a beast to move. Brother and I took the pedals and one front leg off it to put on a wheeled cart, then took the other two legs off. We moved enough times I never wanted a piano in the house.
Pretty incredible that you moved it yourself. That’s not an easy feat.

We always use the same movers and tuner, as we’ve had it about 15 years. Amazing to watch the movers do it. Hopefully, it will never need moving again.

never worked so hard changing lug nuts on a vehicle. near three hours and i used an impact gun, then borrowed a bigger one. looks like water got into the ss bonnet caps, expanded half, and corroded into the aluminum rim. ended up using a sledge hammer to fit the socket over the lugs and pressing the lugs out afterwards in a vise. well new lugs and lots of never seize. any one need a slightly used set of lug nuts

Had a lug nut seize really bad last year. Bought myself a set of sockets specifically for removing seized nuts. Made removal simple. I recommend.

I have a universal socket tool that also works great.

one of the problems was that the ss cap on the nut expanded enough to spin on the nut. i had to hammer a 15/16 socket on, then swedge it down more with a 7/8, then hammer on a size 22 impact socket. this worked on some, others i used a drill and chisel to remove some of the bonnet. ive had penetrating oil on them for weeks. bent a 3/4 inch breaker bar as well
    Good Grief!   :o

Whenever I'd buy new tires Dad always insisted I break the nuts loose, add a drop or two of oil, and torque to specs.  Worth doing when you're fixing a flat on a rainy night, or it's -10º w/howling wind.

I believe lubricated threads, for a given torque reading, results in a higher tension on the threads.  That may or may not be an issue for a particular application but, your connection will be tighter than a "dry" connection.
For sure disassembly will be easier with the lube in place.
You are correct.  Running torque is decreased with lubricated threads.  The change can be significant.  However, if you use an actual torque wrench, your clamping force will still be way less than the service techs who hit it full bore with an impact wrench.  Lug nuts have a very wide margin.

In a perfect workd, you measure running torque and offset your clamping torque.
Where torque is critical, the process usually involves a relatively low initial torque reading to cinch the parts and then it's an angular measurement.  That gives a reproducible shaft stretch because of the pitch and mechanics of the threading.  At least that's what I've deduced.

I'll use a torque wrench for engine parts where it's critical, but for most stuff it's pointless trying to be that accurate and feel is just as good.

was close to that but after the last accident the rims were 1500 each, glad i didnt have to pay for that
Yikes!  $1500 a wheel.  I would have been a nervous wreck.

I've seen some fancy cars recently with carbon fibre rims.  Wonder what the (financial) damage is when you kerb one of those parking?

Is Pep calling up the referees and asking them to reconsider their decisions in the light of obvious injustices?  Shame about the Stoke prediction, I was hoping our run would carry on and now you've jinxed it.

Didn't move it myself, my older brother helped. Worst thing about moving that piano, we usually lived in 2nd/3rd floor apartments above a business. 3rd floor was bedrooms. Piano had to be moved out the front 2nd floor living area. Movers removed one of the windows for an opening. Block and tackle attached to the top of the buildings made moving large furniture and pianos somewhat easier.
