Not nearly as dramatic as the above unfolded but: I-80 headed east out of SF (mid 1970's).  Friend needed to drop a Triumph TR-6 under warranty at the dealer.  Road trip home- round the turn and see the construction crews (around 10 AM) and the orange barrels-four to three to two to one lane.  Okay I've got this til I look in the rear-view mirror.  No chance that car is gonna slow/stop before I get hit.  Hard right into the construction area and then stop.  Worker comes up and asks, "What are you doing here?"
By then the obvious happened, I asked him to look over to the highway.  "See that car that just hit that car...I woulda been in the middle."
    Easy ride past the accident.
This before all of today's distractions.

That's quite the extended warranty. :)

This guy got a bit of a fishtail on today, a couple of hundred yards in front of us. Went to pass the tipper truck you can see and started weaving, finally losing it and putting his caravan on its side. You can also see the mini excavator in front of the caravan. We were getting people together to tip the van back on its wheels to get it off the (major) road when the excavator man turned up, having seen the incident from the other carriageway. He offloaded and pulled it upright, the whole blockage was gone in 10 minutes. I have a video of him righting the van, but no idea how to post that. Cool of him to turn around and clear the road.

I can see the problem. Everyone was driving on the wrong side of the road!  =)
Sorry, I had to click on disagree there. As everyone knows, we drive on the right side of the road (i.e. the Left).

That is really cool. My wife is an artist....and i’ll Show her this.

Little known fact about myself......my Grandmothers-sister was blind. She started the S.C. foundation for the blind. The local building is named after her. I actually have a typed letter from her she sent to me when I graduated from high school. Point of this sharing is I have always had an appreciation for the blind and art. Thanks Carey for sharing.

Just signed up to participate in a Nielsen radio ratings survey.  Runs for one week in mid August.  I'm sure I will be on one end of the bell curve however they massage the data.

Almost pulled a Fishlessman on the way home. I almost rolled the truck. I was going 70-75 mph in the left lane when all of a sudden the traffic comes to a haulting stop. Not wanting to rear end the Expedition in front of me I quickly switched lanes. I had to make a quick move and turned the steering wheel harder than I wanted to but I had no choice as I was going to clip the Expedition right rear going 60+. I started to fishtail and than the rear end stated to go out from under me the other way and could feel the truck start to get light. Fortunately I didn't over compensate in that few seconds and was fortunate I had enough room to get everything back in control. All of this in front of a semi.

A mile down the road I see a lady driving her Toyota Corolla in the middle lane going 25 mph in a 65 mph highway. Cars flying around her. Who in the hell gave this lady her license? What an idiot.

    Counting my lucky stars tonight.
with a little practice try this.  on the highway pulling a box  trailer, hit some ice and proceed into a 360 degree spin with the trailer, at the halfway point going now backwards hesitate long enough to make eye contact and actually wave to the guy inches off the front bumper
(i guess that would be behind you)
then complete the 360 missing the logging truck in the oncoming lane and proceed down the road without skipping a beat=)  beers go down better when theres no loud thud with all the adrenaline pumping thru the veins. glad things worked out for you

First winter in Nebraska: Dec 28th, I headed West on I-80 for work a couple hours away.  I was listening to the Tony Kornheiser Show on ESPN radio. I changed lanes on an icy bridge (I don't think that's in the Instructions For Use).  I did a few 360s as I careened off a pretty steep embankment.  I think I counted 3 rollovers. There was a decent amount of snowpack, so I saw a lot of white and just silence with a few thuds thrown in for good measure.

Once I finally came to a stop, I have never been more happy to hear Tony's voice again.

That wasn't a ton of fun, and now I live in Florida.

On the Minimax with two chunks of orange wood over Rockwood Charcoal at 350 degrees.

Plated with French style green beans.

SWMBO liked, they were tender and very tasty. Will get these again.
