Well done @GrateEggspectations - you travelled along the A303, my favourite A road.  Which of course follows the path of the Harrow Way, a route formalised by the Romans around 50 years in the first millennium AD and used as trading route for 1000's of years before that.    There also used to be many Little Chefs all along it, and that road take you to Cornwall - well almost.

Sorry for the pix outta orderDid some roast pork sandwiches w Rapini and Provolone.  Also did some Italian sausage.   This was a test run for BB, but I think this is a much more challenging cook out at shelter number 2 vs my casa.

Most of our high streets have the same collection of soulless chain shops, many of them supplied to us by the yankee imperialist running dogs. Most of them siphon off the profits to a low tax jurisdiction under the guise of management charges (or some other cunning ruse), so all we get is the crappy food and the crappy minimum wage jobs.

When I visited UK for a few trips ('85-'87?) we soon learned to hit the pubs/ restaurants run by the French.  If the 'murican food chains are pushing them out, then there's no hope for us, as a species....

At the mercy of the local power company since a wind gust of almost 60 mph rolled thru shortly after 4 PM.  Do have the portable generator running as there is no guesstimate for restoration.  The generator is 5 KW running load but I'm well under that.  Need to manage the fridges, computer and a couple of lights.  Pain in the a$$ to run the extension cords but...fortunately outside temp is around 62*F right now. 

Plenty of lump if this becomes a truly protracted event.

Still playing the "we can't give you an estimate of when you may get power back" game.  Heading into 17 hours.  Going out to see if I can find a utility crew.  Such fun.  BTW- house is totally electric and my generator is only soooo big and not big enough for heating system.
