This is one of those cooks where you don't give a sheet. No seasoning, no smoke, and no fun. Put on this morning before work and just about to pull off after getting home. I needed some basic pulled pork for a recipe this weekend. That's how you have to roll some times. Get-r-done.

The plus side is the piece of garbage Party Q made it through without issue. That may be a first
I’ve never had any issues with my party q. Don’t use it but once a year or so, but always performs as expected. I’ve had one time with my digi q when condensation stopped the fan briefly until I removed the bit o ice. It happens.
It has been back for warranty work twice already. The first time they claimed it was water damaged. I call bull. They said they replaced the damaged part. They ended up replacing the whole unit without telling me. The controller had some very light surface scratches in a few areas. The controller came back scratch free. Which is super nice but came with a $50 fee "under warranty".

The second time the fan was malfunctioning and making a ticking sound when it sometime worked. No fee this time except for shipping.

The pit probe went to crap.

The PartyQ has less than 10 cooks on it.

I'm glad to see yours has been issue free. I probably just have a dud.

I first thought that was some kind of jacked up icicle coming off the handle
My original PartyQ pit probe went to crap. I borrowed this one from my DigiQ. This was the first time wrapping a probe in any type of foil. It appeared to work.

I've had the moisture build up from dripping off the egg before:

    One word - SmoBot.
Auber Instruments, DigiQ, PartyQ, and 2 Stokers. I haven't found a perfect one yet. I do like the Stokers though.

I'd have no problem rocking a SmoBot. Especially for comps. I thought the PartyQ would be a good option for those. Apparently not.

None of them may be perfect but I can guarantee one thing - with a SmoBot you will never have icicles freezing up a bottom vent fan. :)

Trying to get through this day.  Spent the weekend in Austin for the Fleetwood Mac concert.  Was a great show.  I highly recommend seeing them if you get the chance.
Don't know if you heard the bad news this past weekend (even though he's not in the band now): Lindsay Buckingham had heart surgery this past week, and they damaged his vocal cords badly, he probably won't ever sing again.
He was a unique, unique musician, as were the Mac.

I enjoy it as well. Have you ever seen Best In Show? Funny stuff.

this is a very conservative chart just to get an idea.  if it were black ice it would be good to go with 10 inches with that truck

White ice has the bubbles of trapped air and black does not?

black ice is crystal clear, the dog will chase fish under it. when looking across it it looks black.  this ice was done more in layers, wet snow turning to slush then freezing,  about half way thru there was a softer, more white ice, not so blue,  you could feel the drill pick up speed and slow down.

I could swear my old Cub Scout manual from the late 60's said that 4" was okay for anything, 1" stay off, 2" one person, 3" small groups.
(I'd also like to know if any snowmobiler in history ever measured the ice before crossing a lake)  ;)

there lies the problem, fish on 2 inches and a sled pulls up near you.  this has happened to me before, a police officer walks across the lake to me to tell me the ice is not safe

Or look for episodes of Ice Road Truckers. They are a lot braver than this Fl resident.
