I think we're set on the m7...I like the idea of being able to change the settings. I love the gel top. Both are comfortable and both are half price. We'll be getting the base (regular), mattress, pillows, cover and delivery for $2500.

Broke down last night and bought the Tempurpedic Tempur-Contour Rhapsody Luxe.  It's a new model this year, they say they've made improvements.  Dropped a bunch of coin on this, so I hope it's good for 20 years.

I got a king temper peptic a few years ago. I got one of the cheaper $3k ones. I'll never not have one.

I wanted the Tempur-pedic, but SWMBO that it was too soft and chose a Serta better. They said it won't have a memory, but it does and we sleep in a hole every night. We have had it for about 6 years now and I wish we would have spent the extra money on the Tempur-pedic one. Its ok, but not my favorite.

I have a tempurpedic, I forget which, the lost level one without cooling or a foam layer, ran about $4k - only saying that for reference. I have not been disappointed, but I was hesitant to spend that money at first.

This has no place on this forum. What does political party affiliation a mattress have to do with the BGE?

No personal experience with either of those. However, if/when we replace our it will be adjustable firmness of some sort. We spent a decent amount on a high end mattress. Since then I've lost 80#. My side of the bed is not so comfortable any more and SWMBO won't switch with me....Go figure.

@DMW - rotate your mattress 180 so the head area is at the foot.  You'll be on her side but it will be on your side.  Do this when she's not home and see if she notices.

Nah, man. This is cool. At least it's in the
Off-Topic forum. The only people that fight over a mattress are married to each other.

The new Consumer Reports (Nov 2014) rate the top mattresses of each type.  Best buys are the Original Mattress Factory $540 mattress, Costco Novafoam for $650, and a Sleep Number that was $700 that rivals their $3000 version.  If anything, check out the article and ratings.

I could never be friends with any savage who sleeps on a Tempur-Pedic when the Select Comfort is clearly the correct choice.

    Outa here.

I was just being a reactionary pedant to make fun. I am an equal opportunity commenter when it comes to that.

Better than a sleep number. Tempurpedic rocks. Some say they are are too hot but Norma is in the change. Woke up with snow on my arm yesterday.

This made Centex happy and laugh out loud in his 3.5 star (Google it bitches) corporate hotel room this evening.

  • I've been selling mattresses for five years. Basically everything but Sleep Number. Sleep Number has got a good concept, but I hear a lot of negative things from customers about not liking the product. I've never personally slept on one, so I'll reserve my judgement.

The one thing about Mattresses is that is a very subjective purchase. No one, especially Consumer Reports, can tell you what Mattress will be good for you in the long run. My opinion, for whatever its worth, make sure you find a sales person that knows what they're talking about and make sure there is some sort of "comfort guarantee" where you can return/exchange it if you aren't happy.

Tempurpedic is great. I've slept on one for the past 3 years. Numerous customers giving fantastic reviews etc. so forth. One thing about Tempurpedic, make sure you try them and get the one that is most comfortable (Yes, you actually have to lay down and try it in the store). If anything make sure you lean a little towards the softer side with Tempurpedic. It is a very dense foam and is a very "firm" underlying feel.

I am more than willing to walk anyone through the process. I've learned countless things about smoking meat from you, might as well pass along my knowledge of mattresses.
