I grew up a pitcher, and even played in some d1 college. I have the utmost respect for what he just accomplished. What a story/legend/feat. He is remarkable.
  • Not a tough call for WS MVP, I'm guessing.

He's a workhorse. Just wish he would have made a few mistakes the Royals could have done something with. He made the Royals his beyotch

Unbelievable. These playoffs made me a Royals fan. Great club, great series.

Giants are going to have to pay Panda.

I don't think it was bad as the headline would have you believe, but man... I'm just glad that Chevy rep didn't have a heart attack right there on the spot.

I thought it was pretty bad. I would bet it will be his last presentation for awhile.

The Red Wings beat the Capitals last night. That was really good. I'm not sure I would call it greatness.

That guy is a quiet killer......reminds me of Maddux.  He hits the mound and slays everyone without shooting finger pistols towards the sky or pounding his chest.  Great end to a great series (even though I wanted the Royals to take it).

You can definitely argue that Bumgarner was better than Larsen, he did have the perfect game but was pulled in the 2nd inning in his other start after walking 4 and allowing 4 unearned runs.

You'd also have to put Bob Gibson in '68 and the Schilling/Johnson duo from '01 in the conversation too.

Weren't the giants already leading 3-2 when he took the mound? And then neither team scored after. Wish I'd have went to bed after the third.

Yes. The scorer initially gave him the W, but promptly change get it to a a 5 inning Save after the game.

Or Schilling with the Red Sox. For a singular event, what is better than a perfect game? Especially on the biggest stage in baseball. Overall, yeah. I'd give it to MadBum. I suppose I looked at it as a singular event(5 innings of shutout ball on 2 days rest).

I remember seeing this guy as the Gatorade Baseball POY for NC. He was really good then too.  Drafted in the first round I believe out of high school.  Committed to UNC, but obliviously didn't go.

The names alone make it classic.  Buster Posey catching for Max Bumgarner?  Awesome.

@blind99, there are many Bum's in my area.  After media covered Madison a lot, apparently there are many in Hickory too.

Not just greatness, it was history. Games 1 and 5 as wins with game 7 as a save - pitching history.

Great game and performance by Bumgarner, and only 25 years old.  Tough for an encore.

Now only around 105 days til Spring Training.  (For all but the Giants fans-"wait til next year!")

Was a great game - and it was especially good to watch with some work colleagues in a "gastropub" in San Francisco.

Needless to say, the place went nuts and while none of us had a dog in the hunt, for the night we were Giants fans.
