Fixed it..Thanks tatawGreen egg, dead animal and alcohol. The "Boro".. TN

If they made one for the small, I would be all over that. That would be ideal for tailgaters looking to cool their egg as fast as possible. Removing the hot lump would be a tremendous asset for doing that.Flint, Michigan

If you want a tailgate egg out quick, just hunt around for a few wounded soldiers and pour them on the embers.

With my luck, I would run low on wounded soldiers and someone volunteers to help and before I know it they're pissing in my egg.Flint, Michigan

Fred, equip yourself with pepper spray and give their junk a night to remember if they try to help that way.______________________________________________I love lamp..

My hand, a quick stirring of the existing lump and shop vac the ash. How hard is that really. Cool idea I guess but, meh I'll pass. You'd still have to remove ash. Unless you upgrade to the "Magical Series". )LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL -

It takes me all of like 30 seconds to clean the ash out of my Egg. You're right I suppose I could cut that down to the 29 seconds it takes in the promotional video."I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike -

@NibbleMeThis is supposed to be doing a review on it (if he hasn't already). I fall into the "not needed" camp on as far as this one goes. Save my money for meat and alcohol.

I think @Fred19Flintstone is on to something. Remove the hot lump, ala @nolaegghead. ..dump ice water in the egg. Tailgating dream come true. Other than that. .. [-(Green egg, dead animal and alcohol. The "Boro".. TN

I scoop mine and its a PITA. After the burning lump is removed, I leave the egg open to cool. Usually 20 - 30 minutes later (or a couple of beers if you measure time by "beers") the egg is cool enough to transport. Pulling a basket out with the hot lump would be useful for this.
Edit: Other than the tailgating aspect (if they made one for a small which they don't) I don't think I would have a use for this.Flint, Michigan -
I kinda thought it was gimmicky until I used it. Now I wouldn't go without it. I took the stock grate out and just use the basket, it doubles as a high que grate. All the ash that I would've had to stir and scoop out gets shaken out in the back yard. Very little is left in the bottom of the egg.Slumming it in Aiken, SC.

Kick Ash basket is a great tool. I recently bought a second one for my other BGE. I wish they made them for the medium BGE too.

Never thought of it as a grate. How much was it?Green egg, dead animal and alcohol. The "Boro".. TN

I guess they are cool if you only fill up half the firebox like in their video but I fill it to the top of the ring most time. Mine would spend most of it's life buried in lump.Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX

I too fill mine to the top of the ring for long cooks. By the time you're finished though enough has burned away that you can still lift it all out. Again, this is with the stock grate out. With it left in, the basket ceases to be useful for this and other reasons.Slumming it in Aiken, SC.

Met Chad at Midwest egg fest in Minneapolis a few weeks ago. Super nice guy and made in USA but for me it's it not necessarily. Definitely makes things easier but I normally have charcoal much higher than the basket allows.
